One down, 199 to go...

down? check your antenna..
busted? wouldn't that imply seizure..

should seizure actually occur, the important DJs will appear somewhere else. when MRLEXX was here a week ago he appeared on at least 3 or 4 stations clamoring for twitter followers and dropping bars

yeah, that was a classy comment...

I take it you have not followed one of the bigger stories in the Boston media this week, that EBT cards were being used to pay for all sorts of things they were not intended for.

Lighten up a bit, it was humor.

But do you think for a moment that 30K is collectible? The FCC has a better chance of seeing God than that.

And they're still on the air as of last night. The old FCC really is to be feared isn't it. I'm starting to think "to hell with it" and fire up my own radio station. I mean, why not, nothing ever gets done to these guys.

Why can't they go in with federal marshalls and simply clean all of this stuff out? What on earth are our tax dollars being used for at the FCC? Oh that's right, auctioning off more TV spectrum for broadband that will be maxed out in 5 years.

i supose if you shut down Unity cultural center, Kays Oasis, whatever Roxy's called now, Lido's, Levis, well damn near any restaurant that serves jerk chicken but secretly opens at night to play some dancehall...

Don't you mean a sideorder? :D ;D :D

Alot of these pirates have horrible signals that are interference-plagued and spotty almost anywhere unless your within 5 miles of the transmitter. Besides Big City and Hot 97, maybe 102.9 too. What is the point? Most people just stream you online instead.

They are mostly programming to ethnic audiences in Boston's densely populated urban neighborhoods, which ARE within five miles of their transmitters.

Why isn't a station as powerful as Hot 87.7 busted already? It's got a 30 mile radius, and I even DXed that pirate station twice from NJ this year.

Well they have been busted if you mean they have been asked to shut down by the FCC and then when they didn't have been subsequently fined. What's happening today is that these actions that used to stop the pirates are not today. Now the federal fines will increase and will eventually catch up with them but it takes time. In the mean time unless the FCC can get other Federal agencies to help them that's about all they can do. But these individuals will start having problems when the feds increase the pressure to collect the fines or start seizing property. These steps will take years but do happen.

how about if they pay the fines but stay on air? Chubby Chub at Hot97 can make $5000 a night at a dj gig.

cash too, good luck garnishing his till with a backlog of federal fines related to FCC violations..

i wonder how egos play a role in there being so many stations. i know anaconda will big up fadah p or vice versa and big city will run ads for events 'presented by' competing stations but ''hot97'' is an island of sorts

i suppose its hooked into the hiphop payola complex somehow too
