Dave and Jimmy expand syndication efforts.

From Taylor on Radio Newsletter:

"WNCI, Columbus' “Dave & Jimmy Show” signs with United Stations for syndication services. Dave Kaelin and “Jimmy Jam” Shaheen are the guys who were part of the discovery of “golden voice” Ted Williams, and they’re already heard outside of Columbus and their base at Clear Channel’s hot AC WNCI (97.9). United Stations says the Dave & Jimmy Show “is structured so that any affiliate can program their own music.” Dave & Jimmy are repped by Chicago-based Miller Broadcast Management. "

Does that scrap any speculation of Dave being a candidate for taking over the morning show on TVN?

I didn't even hear about Dave being a candidate, must have been on another post. WNCI without The Zoo? Crazy. I wonder with them signing with US, what it means for CC? CC requires them to advertise iHeartRadio and other Clear Channel products, and if non-CC stations picked up the show, that'd be a no no. I'm sure WNCI would continue to have them just do custom CC/WNCI breaks. Dave & Jimmy isn't being picked up by any new affiliates, and has actually lost a few to Elvis Duran. Smart move for them to do this to pick up new stations! Good thing Dave isn't leaving for 'TVN because that would either mean Jimmy finds a new co-host, or WNCI finds a new morning show.

They can still do the iheart breaks without causing issues with stations that are not clear channel... The show is done in 'segments' as is (music isn't sent to the stations carring the show) .. just the "voice tracks" of the breaks.. so it's possible that for them to do additonal breaks that are for CC and iHeart.

I'm pretty sure the show is live with no VT's... the music is just programmed from the affiliate.

The segments are aired at a slight delay on the affils im pretty sure that's how they can insert their own music/wtx/traffic/etc. (usually a PC log if its a clear channel station in most cases) Nexgen downloads the segements shortly after they are done "live" in Columbus... and those .wav's play on the station carring the show... non CC affils would likely either get them via FTP or another method.

I see. I remember listening to the show in Dayton when they first ran it and if they connected too early, you'd hear a bed play or a promo saying "2 minutes until Dave and Jimmy".... and it counts down... what's the deal with that?

The show airs live on the affiliates. When D&J say "quick break and we'll be right back", the other stations go to spots and music. I haven't listened to the show for awhile, but NCI used to do traffic there and then come back with the local break. If you listen closely, you'll know when they join and leave the network. The network also plays several songs an hour. NCI plays none. And the network ends at 9.

That's what I thought.

Just listen for what they are talking about. If they mention Ohio State or the Blue Jackets, they are obviously not on the affiliates.

Reminds me of the times I listened to Bob and Tom on their flagship station in Indy. It is very obvious when they are on only in Indy and when the entire network has joined. They take pains never to mention Indiana or anything local. I haven't listened to Dave and Jimmy in years so no idea how obvious they are when local or on their network.

They talk about local contests and mention events happening in Columbus on air. They have hinted at a few things but you couldn't really pick up on it unless you're from Columbus.

Why syndication by United Stations and not Clear Channel or Premiere?

They won't get very many people interested being syndicated by CC/Premiere. You have Elvis, Kane, Bobby Bones, and more options available... all new CHR stations are going straight to Elvis Duran usually. Being apart of USRN, not as many options and I'm sure more freedom. CC requires their shows to promote the hell out of iHeartRadio.

I know this is an old thread..but just came across this in the RAMP Newsletter I get in email

"United Stations swears they are "proud" to announce that the Dave & Jimmy Morning Show has been added to the lineup at Doud Media Group KORQ (96Q)/Abilene, TX"

Thanks for reviving this thread because of this little news about the show.

Jimmy Jam of WNCI has been in the news lately because of what was said in Columbus and on it's
syndicated radio stations.

Is this show syndicated across the country like Elizabeth Lessner, a local restauranteur said in the article below. Elizabeth Lessner is a very successful local restauranteur BTY but Jimmy is no Rush.

Radio Host Sorry for Lesbian Conversion Comments

A nationally syndicated radio host is apologizing for controversial comments he allegedly made, where he claimed he would "change" any "hot lesbians" that are willing to date him, Jezebel reports.

WNCI Morning Zoo host Jimmy Jam apparently offended listener Elizabeth Lessner, a restaurateur from Ohio, as she took to Twitter and Facebook to spread the word about his remarks.

Jimmy Jam and WNCI has been in the new lately for this:

Radio Host Challenges Local ‘Hot Lesbians’ to Resist His Manly Charms
Katie J.M. Baker

"Columbus has a very strong LGBT population, so in a city like this, it's very offensive," said Elizabeth Lessner, a local restauranteur who helped circulate the news on Facebook and Twitter — now, she says, it's "blowing up" online — adding that the popular show is syndicated across the country via Clear Channel. "It gets aired everywhere," she said. "That's why it's so dangerous."

The whole thing sounds silly. Maybe Jimmy and Liz planned the whole "controversy" together so that they could both get publicity. Rush, Glenn and Howard all make more offensive remarks daily. Maybe hourly. Or quarter-hourly.
