Dave and Jimmy Lose An Affiliate

Looks like Channel 945/WDKF Dayton has dropped Dave and Jimmy from their morning lineup effective immediately. They're telling their listeners to text change to a number for more details. ??? Wonder why they dumped the show. ???

Yeah. I live in Dayton... I posted about this on the Cincy boards. They weren't pulling in the ratings... Russ Parr was stomping them. Monday begins the new morning show. They most likely don't have enough money for a local show so it will probably end up being either:

- Elvis Duran
- Kidd Kraddick
- Valentine

Duran's a cash only option... at least it was when we checked into it. Not sure what D&J was, but I am guessing it was less expensive than Duran. KK is cash/trade. I don't know about Valentine. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing.

For those who are unfamiliar, 94.5 is a pea-shooter 6,000 watt flanker signal in Englewood with signal problems. Anyhow, 94.5 DID air Valentine for several years in the late 90s/early 2000s, then dumped him for T-Man briefly, then went back to Valentine, then dumped him AGAIN and went live and local, dumped the live and locals, went with Dave and Jimmy, and now who knows what they'll do. This station should be straight-ahead CHR/Pop but instead stick with a Rhythmic-leaning philosophy, which lets them get their rear ends beat by Hot 102.9. In the end it won't matter because 94.5 is in the Aloha Trust anyhow. ::)

Alright... I know the history of 945. I've been listening for awhile.

To be honest, who knows what they're going to do in mornings! They don't have the money but they definitely have people there who is trying to do a local morning show. If Drake OR corporate willl allow, beats me! I see a new syndication morning show or a More Music Morning Show lol...

We'll see Monday!

Elvis Duran is now handled by Premiere, but if the clock with the one :60 spot per hour is an indicator, it's probably still requires a fee. The show leaves open 27 minutes for locals.

Dave & Jimmy just gained up I-71, with Y105/Mansfield signing them on in the past couple of weeks.

I hear rumors they're about to lose one of their other (non-Ohio) markets, and the speculation is that Elvis Duran is the culprit there as well.

My daughter and her friends used to listen to WNCI in the mornings when they were in the early years of High School, but by the time they graduated, almost all of them found different stations to listen to. My own conclusion to this is that when they were children they did childish things, and as they became young adults their tastes matured. No offense intended to children, or those who still listen to WNCI in the mornings. :p

#1 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 in Columbus, #1 18-35 in Harrisburg, #3 18-34 beating heritage WDJX in Louisville... Top 2 in all other markets...[EDIT*=abusive and disruptive]

Hostile! The bottom line is that they're still getting replaced. WNCI is a great heritage station, always wanted a more mainstream CHR sound, but hey, it's working. Dave And Jimmy are good jocks, but Elvis Duran is more "now." How long will Dave And Jimmy remain syndicated? Elvis Duran is moving up pretty quickly. He could be the next Valentine.

Looks like D&J are offered to stations as part of PremiumChoice..

The R&R article states for their CHR stations Clear Channel station managers are given a choice of elvis or Dave and Jimmy.

So really I dont see them leaving Syndication anytime soon. Elvis may end up on a few stations that PD's decide to go that route but D&J are still out there and still backed by Clear Channel (even if a few on this board hate the show)..

I personally grew up listening to them and while I don't listen to NCI much anymore (different tastes now) ... they must be doin' somethin right!.

Maybe, but having fewer viable competitors never hurts, either.
