Dave and Jimmy

What does everyone think of Dave and Jimmy on 99.3 kiss. Some things they do i find to be funny but mostly they seem to be cheesy, old and tired. I am not sure was is funny about a football pickin' pengiun for example. or throwing cocunuts on peoples heads. THey are just really corny. Although Mike and Emily may not have been the original morning mess they were definatly better for the station then Dave and Jimmy. Does any one agree with me???

Could anyone who disagrees explain why? Dave and Jimmy might be great in Culumbus but i think that Kiss is missing something that they used to have with the morning mess. That is locality. I just don't think Dave and Jimmy do anything that is interesting. It's like they have one big bit for the morning and before the bit they do celeb dirt and they talk about how great their big bit is. Then after the bit all they do is reflect on the bit. Maybe it is different on WNCI. I dont know but i do know that i am not a fan of them! The only reason I listen to them is because they play the music i wanna. I dont like hot 92 and fm97 comes in fuzzy

I agree completely with dowork. I like to hear local people on the local radio stations, not a syndicated show. I miss the old morning mess but Mike and Emily were much better than Dave and Jimmy. I mostly now listen to 99.3 after 3 p.m. when Mike comes on. I don't care for Dave and Jimmy or Ryan Seacrist's show. I started listening more to FM 97. But I also agree with you that the signal is not always as good as 99.3. I know other stations are doing more syndicated shows. WNNK 104 has Billy Bush on at 7. Listening to syndicated count down shows like Ryan Seacrist's AT40 is ok for the weekend's but during the week I like to hear local people on local radio.

I find D&J to be much like a lot of the syndicated shows out there....spending way too much energy trying to be funny ALL the time, which is impossible. The end result is much of the material coming off sounding cheesy, corny, yada yada.

Another thing...has any one thought about syndicating the Freak Show on 96.1 Kiss pittsburgh. Still won't be a local show but i listen to their podcasts all the time and they are nothing short of hilarious. I have heard them on their show talking about syndication but usually as a joke. They make it a point to not do the wacky bits and they poke fun at all the shows like that. I dont know, I would love to hear Mikey and Bob on 99.3, it would be a step up from D&J

i personally like D&J. it proves that old chestnut of the "dick, dear, dork" morning show works. now i grew up listening to D&J in Columbus, and I'm glad they are on in Hbg. It's an actual morning show with correct demographic conversation and they play well off of each other. Before on KISS it sounded like their AM show was just an afterthought. Very little preparation and it sounded like the hosts had no idea what was going on and how to transition/tease the next element. Frankly it was a "mess" in the morning. I look at it this way, if the Morning Mess was any good and a community fixture, it would have never been replaced. But why pay the salaries of two people who do an average job when CC can send D&J down the pipeline? The quality sure improved. Now if there were local radio personalities able to do a quality morning show, then I'd be in favor of taking D&J off.

Freak Show in Pittsburgh is a hugely successful morning show here in Pittsburgh on 96.1 KISS FM. Saying that, I don't listen to the show very much, but those who I know that do listen regularly absolutely love it. These guys used to be in Philadelphia a few years ago too. I doubt Central PA would be ready for these guys from the little I've ever listened to these two.

Why wouldnt central pa be ready for a show that doesnt just do stupid bits that have no relevence

That's kind of funny... using the word "relevance" when referring to a show that originates from outside the state.

;D

FreddyB - last I checked Pittsburgh is still part of Pennsylvania - let me go check, yup, Ohio state line looks like its still about 25 miles to the west of me.

Like I said before, I don't know that Central PA is ready for these guys from Kiss FM in Pittsburgh (PA).

Don't worry, Obama is going to fix the No Child Left Behind problem and geography will be better taught in the future. ;D

Yes, the Messiah will fix all that is wrong. We live in the land of an Obamanation. ;D

By the way, geography had nothing to do with my error. I simply never heard of these guys (and couldn't care less about them), neglected to read the entire post (my bad), and was trying to make a simple point about local relevance when talking about a syndicated show.

Silly me... trying to make a point.
:p
