Dave Baker - WSB

Here is a talent The Pig Farmer should be developing as a fulltime host! Dave is really enjoyable to listen to - he is a true conversationalist with an especially wicked, dry sense of humor. This is the guy they should groom to take over for Neal.
I have no idea if political talk is something that would interest him - maybe they should team him with Erickson, Cain, or Goldfien.
What do you guys think?

Amen,

I'd listen to anything he and Mark Arum could dream up. Two great Atlanta radio guys.

Assuming I am correct Dave Baker has been on WSB almost forever! I remember him as "Dave From Conyers" on Bobby Harper's morning show (back when Scott Slade was doing traffic & WSB was transitioning from a full-service to a news-talk operation) and I believe he also appeared on Gary McKee's Hometown Radio Show from time to time.

Dave has been around for many years and, yes, he did start out as a regular caller.
I was listening this morning - he was talking about owning a toilet that would flush a cat. Sounded just like Boortz! At that point it dawned on me that here is at least one very good talent already in the WSB stable. They are missing a great opportunity if they do not utilize him more. So.....my question is does anyone else agree with widow's son and me?
I have not listened to Mark yet. I see posts here regarding him from time to time but he must not be on the air (as a host) very often.

Man..you are RIGHT! Dave Baker would be perfect..Listenable, relatable, tuned-in and probably nowhere near as cost prohibitive. Plus his ability to pull of spokesman duties like Boortz is evident. Just a guy we have always just sort of accepted, and taken for granted. He would be a rock star.

Taylor..this is got to be something we all could rally for.

I want one of those toilets!

I think Dave could be very successful on WSB for the flagship -- but not so sure with Boortz's syndicators -- Boortz blogged today about how he was often targeted at stations north of the Mason-Dixon line as a "southern" talk show. Dave would definitely come off more southern than Neal.

The syndication arm is going to be "broken" no matter who takes over! Most of that network of stations will disappear - most are small "puddle jumpers" anyway with little to no "built in" audience. Yes, there are some decent stations and markets but I wonder how much the network really adds to the "Boortz Show bottom line."
I don't think Baker is so southern as to annoy anyone. Boortz grew up in the south - he doesn't get pegged with that stereotype.
A conversationalist is a person whose knowledge and experience enable him to engage in an interesting conversation with anyone on a broad range of topics. They also score highly on social intelligence and have a knack for engaging others. I have never met Dave but he seems to have all the ingredients.

I remember when he was the producer for Braves baseball when they were on WSB,when the team was on the road on the weekends when his show was on e would do it from an rv.
