DAVE BARBER DISGRACES WPRO DEFENDING GANGSTERS.

When I hear a talk show host advocating for compassion for life long Mafia!
Dave Barber, the shock jock of 630 WPRO.
On Wednesday News channel 10 did a story on North Providence Mayor A. Ralph Mollis.
Mollis has taken thousands of dollars from Organized Crime members, notibly Robert Barbato and John Broccoli.
Broccoli, owner of Spardello's ( formerly Monticello's) is a 19 time convicted felon.
From assualt with a Baseball bat, to attempted murder, to Heroin distribution, to master minding the Gassbarro
ligiour robbery.
Broccoli was paroled from prison in 1997, Mollis has been a close friend ever since , and taking thousands ,not counting cash!
Robert(Bobby) Barbato stole well over 2,000,000 dollars from investors in the R.I.S.D.I.C banking crisis.
Barbato was arrested for organized book making and ploting to kill an informant.
Dave Barber went on a 2 hour rant defending Mollis , his involvement with them, and the gangsters themselves.
" Their GOOD GUYS and Mollis is a stand up guy for sticking by them"
Salty must be spinning in his grave since this morning.
When you have a host who is defending and applauding violent covicted felons, and lieing about the extent
of their crimes,
It's time to suspend or terminate him.

There's been alot of chatter about this. Barber says he goes to Pearl Rest all the time.
Spardellos owns part of that place. The owner Jon Broccoli hangs around in there.

Maybe he just has the same problem Mayor Mollis has, he's in their deit.

People are bitching about him.People go on public forums like this to complain.WPRO knows that people are listening by forums like this because of the complaining.
Your feeding them just what they want.The best way for them to dump Dave Barber is not to mention him at all.

Most of the people who come here are either in the industry or people who have been in the industry. Posting stuff here does not influence the general public at all. The only people effected by what's written here are RADIO STATION Employees who are concerned about looking Bad in front of their friends and co-workers.

Why do you think certain radio stations ban employees from looking at this board? It's because the paranoid freaks in charge at certain stations don't want to look like a bunch of asses in front of people they need to face each day.

For example, If I criticize Program Director Joe Schmo at WXYZ and say he has Crap for brains because he signed on Dave Barber to do a show instead of Matt Allen........ well he's not going to want his employees to see that. His co-workers would have a field day with him. They might not confront him.... but plenty of things would be said behind his back. His employees arn't going to respect him. In their minds they'll think he's a no talent hose bag. So Joe Schmo Program Director tries to do everything in his power to prevent people at the station from seeing that he's a no talent piece of Goo. I think there has even been a case of certain Employees freaking out about what has been written here regarding their show.

This is why I love "Radio-info.com". We talk about things here that Radio Station people freak out about. I find it very amusing. But nonetheless.... None of this is effecting listenership. It's only effecting the mindset of people employed in the industry. We're driving some of those people completely NUTS! ;D

Skynet, don't be so sure. Most of the experiences I've had with people in radio talking about radio-info include the fact that it's really sad to see people who aren't even in the business, or who can't get jobs anymore, attempting to armchair quarterback stations by making ridiculous suggestions that show exactly WHY they will never be successful in radio. I mean, it's amusing, but really, mostly what this is -- is a vehicle for jealous people to vent their frustrations about those who actually have talent. It's kind of sad honestly.

As for suspending or firing Dave Barber -- I can't say I listen to his show, because I can't get WPRO where I live and only listen as I pass through on occassion now -- but I think it's kind of ridiculous that you actually think the guy should be fired because you don't agree with his opinion on something. It's his job to get listeners and make them pay attention to the station. Not fight crime. Not do the work of the police. If you don't like what he has to say -- the best thing you can do is stop listening. What exactly would you "suspend or terminate" him for? Failing to agree with you?

Both you & Skynet might be generalizing a bit. I don't think the purpose of the board is to try to drive people crazy & anyone in radio truly driven crazy by message boards probably has doubts about his abilities in the first place. Most of the vicious stuff seems to be aimed at talk show hosts which tells me some of these people just aren't allowed on these shows when they call in. Still I've always felt the worst stuff comes from people in the business & sometimes in the same building.

As far as armchair quarterbacking it's no different than any subject from politics to TV & much of that is done by radio people when they're actually on the radio. When it comes to programming opinions I'm sure you know you can walk through any station in any market & get 101 different opinions from people who have never programmed.

From the point of view of the talent comment I think the problem is that there really is a minority of people who have it vs ability & they're being slowly driven from their stations & out of the business itself. For every up & comer who truly does have "talent" there are half a dozen who are in the business because they were in the right place at the right time & since doing a shift isn't brain surgery they can move ahead by executing the basics well.

Hes a FAKER. Look, he doesn't know the topics. Thats makes for a RECKLESS show.
Last Friday, yes he defended Mayor A.Ralph Mollis for taking over 3,000 dollars from 2 Organized Crime figures.
However, today he's right after John M. Cicilline, Mayor David Cicilline brother, for parking tickets.
This man is no better than some person from the street. He came from Flint, got the job because Barbara Haynes at PRO dropped the ball and gave the choice to Holland Cooke and that 'no clue' Jennings.
That job should be Matt Allens.
He is the REAL DEAL.
Barbara ( NO BRAINS) Haynes is the reason for this talentless waste of time.
Wait for Helen Glover, shes REAL. She's not playing games with her callers, or the public.
Dave Barber has low end ratings. He should be ignored, He's on borrowed time.
The problem with WPRO and WHJJ is people are in the 'walking on eggs' mindset.
At PRO, people like Fraid, Jennings, and that Block Island 'has been' Cooke simply scare Haynes.
If she lost her job tommorow , no one would notice.
At HJJ its Jimmy Corwin. Corwin does more damage than the 3 at PRO combined.
R.I. can do better.
Just don't take Barber seriously! He could CARE less.

WPRO had their GEM. Matt Allen knows the state, knows the players, he's well known and liked by listeners and was the obvious choice to get the time slot. It was really a no brainer. Even NBC knew enough to give the fill in guy Carson's job. They've had no regrets. Why should they. The ratings are Number 1. Unfortunately WPRO is run by a bunch of suits who don't know what the listeners want. They are only concerned with what THEY want. That is going to be the whole stations downfall.
