Dave Compton on the air 32 Years at WPET

I noticed on Dave Compton's Facebook page the following post this morning (1/11/2010)

Today, January 11th, 2010, marks 32 years here at WPET RADIO in Greensboro, N.C. Still loving coming to work everyday, and I am so thankful to the Lord for my journey thus far!

Congratulations Dave! 32 years sure did go by in a hurry didn't it. Who would have thought when a young man from Reidsville walked in to 221 W. Meadowview Road in Greensboro to apply for a job, he would have still be there 30+ years later. When you first entered the building the 98.7 FM station that was co-owned with WPET was known as WRQK, and then it was WKSI, and it then became Simon, and etc, ect. But 32 years later WPET still has the same gospel music format and Dave Compton is still on the air on AM 950 having weathered numerous ownership changes, general managers and operations managers coming and going, and all the other big time radio people going on to bigger and better things. Dave, how did you do it? It must be that strong faith you've never been shy to acknowledge & share. May you have 32 more wonderful years. God Bless you Dave Compton!

Congrats Dave. Now that Max Meeks is not on, I think that gives you seniority in the market. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Congratulations Dave! You are a great person and a true professional. It's been a long road since WREV!

Can you say SURVIVOR? - Wow. Serious Congrats for a career well done. Don't think it could happen in this day and time.

I was going to say you left out The Point. Then I went to Wikipedia and discovered I had forgotten The Zone.
