I was listening to Dave Fm yesterday and heard a promotional announcement thanking the Falcons for a "Phenomenal" season... and looking forward to a "great" season next year....Question.....when has a non winning record in professional football been described as "Phenomenal"... And if this season was, why would anybody get excited about the just "great" season to come...

When it's the Falcons, just as a 25-57 season would be considered "phenomenal" for the Hawks.

My question is, will the Falcons be on 92.9 (whatever it becomes) next season or is this simply wishful thinking on Infinity's part?

Dave is either kissing the "Phenomenal" Falcons butts to try and keep them from jumping to another station next year....or they are thumbing their collective noses at the "Phenomenal" Falcons so they WILL go to another station... leaving DaveFm the ability to provide this city with more "Rock w/o Ratings"

Because dave fm can't write image copy without the over-use of fluffy, polysyllabic adjectives.

Normal Sentence: Dave Matthews is my favorite singer.

Translated into DaveFM Speak: Dave Matthews' distinctive voice sets him apart from the crowd and solidifies his place in rock history as a modern musical icon. He's raised the bar by which all other musicians are judged. This weekend, I will salute Dave Matthews as I place my ipod on shuffle in tribute to his overwhelming genious.

It's Marketing 101: Tie yourself to something most of their listeners like. Make people think Dave is THE place for the Falcons...as well as the place for DuMB.

Seeing as how the Falcons and Infinity have a contract, I'm sure you'll hear the games on Dave next year. Also, perhaps the "phenomenal" year they were referring to was the cross promotional items that happened away from the field like the Football 101 program they had to raise money for breast cancer or the Falcons involvement in the Habitat For Humanity fundraiser that struck up over $50K in a weekend, every dollar of which went to the charity.

Even if those things had nothing to do with it, can anyone name me a radio station (or any media outlet, for that matter) that doesn't embellish when it comes to promotional drops? Oh, I know, the spot should have said, "Hey! Thanks to the Falcons for a mediocre year! Better luck next year boys. Maybe people will still care. If you're lucky."

Sheesh, everyone always has an ax to grind here because they hate a radio station for whatever reason. Does anyone here like radio? I, for one, enjoy Dave. I'm in my 30's and don't really like the new heavier stuff (a la 99X), don;t really like the serious classic or southern rock stuff (96Rock), and have a hard time relating to the pop stuff on Star or Q100, so Dave works for me. Most of the time I enjoy the songs. But, I don;t come on here just to throw daggers at all the stations in town like it seems so many do?

Why is it people do that? And, for that matter, all of this falls under an axiom my high school fotball coach used often:

"Opinions are like buttholes. Everyone has one. And they all stink...... Except for mine."

I don't think the Falcons have ever followed up a winning season with at .500 season ever before (let alone another winning season). There has to be some positive spin made. Yes the Birds started 6-2 and only won two more games. However, you have to have some positive to spin to try to sound like you are enthusiastic about your product. If Dave did not do anything they would not deserve to braodcast the Falcons

What do you want them to say thanks partner for a subpar season? Maybe phenomenal refers to their ratings and revenues and not their record. The biggest factor on where the Falcons might go next is not whether or no they kiss their butt but whether or not they are the highest bidder. Money talks.

Phenomenal is abit of stretch, but it was a good season.

The Falcons were still in the running for the playoffs until they lost to Tampa Bay. They had two chances to win that game in overtime and failed each try. If they would've tied (clock run out), they would've still been in the running for a playoff spot. To run that late into the season with playoff chances is good. And to play that well against Tampa Bay is also good. If your out early, then it is a subpar year for both the team and ratings. Now if only they could get in the playoffs two years in a row and bring home a Superbowl Trophy, then that will be a true Phenomenal season! But it wasn't meant to be.<P ID="signature">______________

I've already received a call from an Infinity salesperson who's putting a proposal together for next year for one of my clients. Maybe it will contain an "if we don't have it" clause.
