This just sounds like they want to find someone else that can successfully program a Triple A station

There goes that button...no wonder it sounded like crap today.Rodney Ho said:First sign of change without Scott Jameson at the helm of Dave FM: no more 80s weekends.
In fact, a lot less 80s music period on Saturday.
The breakdown of music has shifted significantly to the past 22 years, according to Mediabase 24/7: 10% 70s music, 8% 80s music, 42% 90s and 40% the past 12 years.
On Friday, June 22, the breakdown was: 10% 70s, 50% 80s, 20% 90s, 20% 2000s to today

Speculating that Dave were to change formats; if WiLD is as CHR as it looks (I haven't listened online lately), I don't see how there would be room for an Amp-type CHR in the market with WiLD and Q100. WiLD is similar to the Amp stations which lean rhythmic. That would leave Sports (I don't see how 3 sports stations could be sustained in Atlanta) or classic hits, pretty much. Or, the Modern AC suggestion which was interesting.
Like I've said many times - personally, I think classic hits would be the best choice should they do away with the Dave format. It's a big hole and CBS can pull it off better than anyone else.BRENT said:carolinaradio said:IMO, part of Dave-FM's issue that there is no stability in the musical/programming focus. What do you suggest for this 100 k signal then? It needs to go back to doing classic oldies with deeper cuts...

Look with happened to B's all 80s weekend
Look at Star's all 90s weekend.
I love the 80s and 70s is my favorite but damn, some people under AARP consideration like some of the newer stuff rather that be in rock, rap or country.

Cumulus reacted to all the "Bring back 99X" cries and look where it got them. Plus, Z-93 is actually alive and kicking in Atlanta, but it's called the River.

The River is nowhere near what Z-93 was. Z-93 played a music library that was much deeper and broader than the River with it's same tired 200 song Skynrd, Zepplin and top 20 rock hits of the 70's and 80's ever did. Z-93 had a great airstaff. Z-93 had great imaging. Z-93 also lasted 15 years (1989-2004) with the same format.
99X on a crappy translator or it's HD-2 counterpart with it's monophonic telephone line sound cannot compare, and it's 100 percent automated.
Stop comparing apples to oranges. What had been brought back is a shell of what once was. And listeners know it, which is why we tune it out.
I thought translators had to go off the air if the "translated" signal went off the air...?RadioDoogie said:MRFLASHPORT said:wooder said:To those who keep suggesting "Bring back Z-93"!!....When stations die they die for a reason. If you can even pickup the 99X on HD2. It's been down for two weeks now.
I think what people are wanting is a reprise of CHR Z-93, with the old jingles and imaging, albeit as a classic hits station covering the 1970s and 1980s. If WCBS can do it, why not WZGC?MRFLASHPORT said:wooder said:To those who keep suggesting "Bring back Z-93"!!....When stations die they die for a reason.
