Dave Herman

Can't believe this is the same Dave Herman we all knew and loved. Can't wait to hear what Howard Stern has to say about this on Monday.

The evidence was collected from an 11 month investigation during which time he communicated on a website, through his Yahoo! email address and with his cell phone.

There's no question that he's the correct individual and that he had horrendous intentions. What remains to be seen is if he's simply crazy and might not have followed through with his fantasy or whether he's left a trail of similar exploits. We can only hope it's the former.

Waiting for the mom & daughter at the airport in St. Croix, stuffed animal in hand, could be considered beyond the fantasy, don'tcha think?

What's especially creepy is that he had a conversation with the "mother" about whether or not he'd need to get a car seat for the kid while they were in St. Croix.

Skin-crawl anyone?

Yep. Just giving the benefit of a doubt.

Just as an aside, I recall listening to Dave Herman on NEW-FM almost every morning for several years during the 1970s and, unlike Jonathan Schwartz, Pete Fornatale and others, I never felt that I "got to know him." His presentation was smooth, polished and impeccably professional but it seemed to me he never talked about himself nor expressed any opinions.

People who worked with him are now saying how shocked they are by this news. I wonder if he was as private in person as he was on the air.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. While he may not have ever attempted to actually "buy" a child for sex in the past, This is hardly the crime of a first-timer.

Having reported on these stories way too often, I can tell you that these crimes follow years other unnerving behavior. These pedophiles build up to actually trying to procure a child for sex. I'd put money on this not being the first offensive thing Dave Herman has done, though we may never learned what or when.

There is a former DJ who worked on the Mississippi coast for years. He's now in prison (probably for what will be the remainder of his life) because he left notes in public bathrooms for parents wanting to sell their kids for sex to get in contact with him. When police traced the notes to him, they confiscated his computer only to find thousands of child porn images. This is someone I worked with and was fond of, and was saddened to learn about his secret life. But more so I am glad he was discovered, because he will never harm a child from here on in.

NY Post now says Dave Herman willl be sent from US virgin islands to New Jersey.
the case willl proceed there. The court in virgin islands said Dave has
'health issues that can be better handled in NJ., Maybe this willl be his defense----------- health issues.

Correction------ Dave Herman due to be sent from virgin island to Puerto Rico then to NJ. his lawyer
'claimed Dave has health issues that can be better handled in the NJ.

Ive often been told------------ the most intelligent, creative humans often go beyond what is accepted as normal behavior.
Then-----they can also pay the penalty for behavior that is illegal.

Opie also says most of the legendary dj's weren't talented, and anyone could do it.

I wouldn't call him "legendary." By the time Dave Herman came to WNEW, the music was basically chosen for him. As others pointed out, rock was not his first choice for personal listening. He had an easy-going style that worked in the morning, but I'm not sure that's a talent.
