Dave Kane Fired

Fired? I honestly had no idea the guy still had a show on the air. I thought he left the air at least 5 years ago. Who knew?? Not me!

Most consistent streak I've seen since Stern...except Howard is now considered talented...OK, well at least making more money than us!!! :)

Dave Kane fired yet again ? ? ?......Y...A...W...N ! ! !

They say that hindsight is always 20/20. I wonder if Kane realizes how good he really had it when he had the opportunity to run the now-defunct 1320 WARA, during the ownership of Peter Ottmar, and later, Chiropractor Mike Merolla?

How many people in the business get that kind of opportunity to implement 'your vision' of what you think a station ought to be like?

Well......for a while, Kane had it, and it certainly sounded different from the talk radio competition at the time. A station that actually seemed to care about the area and people it served......always seeming to be involved in some community project or other, whether it be "Christmas is for Kids", or whatever.

And......staffed by people who, by and large, were not 'radio people'......names like Tom Rafferty, Larry Pearlman, Donna Sprague, Chuck Whelan, Peter Gay, and a host of others......an odd-ball off-beat bunch if ever there was one. Some of you may remember that Pearlman, Sprague, and Whelan later went on to become part of the "Renegade Radio" Battaglia-era 990 WALE.

But......for some guys in the business (and I think Kane is one of these)......his self-destructive nature keeps getting in the way, which is why it seems every radio gig he ever gets somehow turns to mud.

Too bad......That early / mid 80's WARA was a worthwhile little station that didn't deserve to die.

I find this a bad a scenario to be feared. Talk hosts should be able to find fault with any public official

Not an unusual scenario in small market radio. It's been that way for years.
