Dave Maynard

Just read over on the Boston board that Dave Maynard has passed away. There is a link to a nice story about him there. WBZ was always one of the presets on my parents' and then my own radio throughout the 60's 70's & 80's and in my opinion, Dave was the whole package when it comes to radio broadcasting. He not only had great pipes and a sharp wit, he could also be warm and friendly as well as very funny and even mildly irreverent at times. Truly a radio broadcasting legend. I hope he is up there exchanging stories with Larry Glick now. RIP Dave.

What line-up WBZ had in the late 50s and early 60s. Carl deSuze, Jay Dunn, Dave Maynard, Jefferson Kaye, Bruce Bradley, and Dick Summer.

Most slowly drifted away but Dave Maynard stayed, stepping very well into the shoes of deSuze. The thinking among many was that as long as Dave Maynard was there WBZ would still be great.

A little bit more of New England radio died with Dave Maynard.

Godspeed Mr. Maynard
