Dave McBride - former WGST Car Show co-host

Dave McBride, who co-hosted The Car Show on WGST with Sam Memmolo, passed away Wednesday (4/18/2007) after a battle with cancer. He was 59. In addition to The Car Show, Dave also co-hosted with Sam the nationally syndicated Sam's Garage radio program and Two Guys Garage on Speed TV.

The Car Show was dropped from WGST last October when Bloomquist decided a taped-delay gardening show was better programming.

Say what you want about the sad state of radio in Atlanta, but The Car Show was a good listen on Saturday mornings.

:( :(

Wow...that was quick. He was still working in January, I think. He was a first class guy and very nice to everyone. Why in the world the G-spot chose to put a bunch of crappy shows on instead of ones like the Car Show, I'll never understand. Sam and Dave did a great public service with their show, and by the way, that's what radio used to be.

Thats spoken truth. Radio used to be so much fun to listen to, and be a part of as well, but now unless you like fooling yourself (Making Believe that folks are live on the air) then its really dead. Corporate radio has destroyed what used to sound great!

Such sad news....

I had a short stint at GST running board for their show, so I can honestly say that Dave was, without question, a stand up guy. The kind of guy who looked you in the eye and thanked you for doing a good job (even if you didn't....which was me).

As a former producer for Sam and Dave, I'm saddened to hear this news. Dave was a professional and enjoyable to work with us exhausted overnighters.

This was an enjoyable Saturday morning show. How typical that WGST suits pulled it in favor of a taped show about gardening. How typical and how pathetic.
