Dave Michaels

Yes it is true. My old buddy Dave Michaels passed away this morning

Mike O'Neil

First I've heard. Now this is Dave from ABCRN, correct? The one who just posted a profile pic to his FB Tues at 3pm after a long time of inactivity? And not Muehlenthal (sp?) right? Haven't seen him in forever. Couldn't have been that old, maybe 50s? Damn!

Before I start getting emails from friends--- THIS DAVE MICHAELS (real name Muehlenthal) is very much alive and still among us-- as for the Dave Michaels from ABCRN-- I haven't seen anything on his death--

Dave Michaels
Owner
North Texas Sports Network &Davradio Productions

An informed source (nameless here since I misquoted her here some time back) says it's ABCRN's Dave Michaels, that he quit recently to be with his family during his last days. So his illness/death is likely not a surprise to those who worked with him. If anyone hears anything to the contrary, please post. Thanks.

I listened to Dave Michaels on a fairly regular basis on the classic hits radio affiliate station out of Columbia, Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville. It seemed like he ended every sentence with "bay-bee." Anyway, I wrote to the Columbia station, saying that I enjoyed their programming, and they responded by saying that they would forward my message on to their PD, Dave Michaels in Dallas. I'm sure that they love it when they get emails from people who enjoy their programming. I'm estimating that this has been about a year now. I noticed that I did not see Dave's name among the list of classic hits radio djs on their website.

Yes it is true Dave Michaels the program director and mid-day guy on Citadels Classic Hits format passed away today after a battle with cancer. He was 60. RIP Dave

He was one of the nicest people I've ever met in the business and was genuinely interested in his affiliates and local audience reaction to their music tweaks (in one particular call, he asked if anyone had commented when they added Huey Lewis). He would ask for me to roll tape on our affiliate to send him, so he could make suggestions.

He picked my market one year to do their music test. While he was here, he asked if we could pick a locally-owned Mexican food restaurant for lunch. He loved it. Afterwards he asked if we could stop by a place that sold local trinkets, especially postcards. He told us he'd send his mom something from wherever he traveled.

His coworkers appeared to know. Last night I stumbled on a page with a video of get-well wishes from his Citadel coworkers. There was also an audio link with more wishes from people he had worked with in the past and a couple of links to letters. I should have bookmarked it, as today I can't find it. If anyone knows the link I'm speaking of and would post it, that would be most appreciated.

I just heard about Dave Micheal's passing. Sad to hear. Hadn't spoken with him in a number of years after the station I worked for changed formats back in '08, but he was always pleasant to work with and listen to.

I hope Cancer is finished at ABCRN. It hasn't been that long since Dave Marcum (Real Country/Country C2C) passed away...
