Dave Pratt on KFYI

Dave Pratt has a contract with KFYI. He will replace Bruce Jacobs. Am I the only one who thinks this is a dumb idea?

sidew,

If what you say is true, I would have to say that Smokey Rivers is an evil genius.

Dave Pratt brings with him 30+ years of radio experience, community involvement and a lot of loyal, long-time listeners. This could result in increased listeners and sales revenue.

Having said that, KFYI would need to transition to an FM signal to ensure long-term success with Pratt in the mornings.

I could be wrong, but I think this would be a good move for Cheap Channel and KFYI.

If I had the keys, here's how I'd do it...

Talk format moves to 102.5. Calls remain KNIX (ties to Phoenix). 95.5 is left to run on autopilot and generate cashflow (either Premium Choice it or plug in the Broadcast Architcture network). Put 910 on the block; see if the Domino's Pizza founder wants to pay too much to put his Catholic radio network on 910, or else just unload that night-challenged to the highest bidder. Cash is king here, so Salem won't play and you might have to go outside the box to make a deal. When 910 closes, move sports to 550 and send the KFYI call letters somewhere else in the chain.

How it would probably go down:

95.5 KFYI, and 102.5 keeps plugging in Premium Choice with the KZZP PD babysitting the log.

If this is true (and given the BS we've seen posted here, I'm not entirely convinced) I'm just shocked that Clear Channel found enough quarters between the seat cushions to buy Dave Pratt lunch, much less do a deal.

Have always been a fan of Dave's, but wonder if he has depth to do what amounts to political talk? (Jacobs had some, not a lot, IMHO). If they're going in an FM/lighter talk direction, a Pratt hiring makes sense.
