Although I didn't hear the show, FMQB.com has a wrap-up about David Lee Roth's return to his syndicated radio show this morning (March 31st).

The article reports that Roth called himself "Dave Roth" on the air (hence, the title of this thread), and had to agree to make several changes to the show's format, changes that he criticized on-the-air.

Did anyone hear the "new and improved" David Lee Roth show today?? And if so, do you think the new format can turn the show around?? Or should CBS Radio throw in the towel??

You were adamant that Mr. Roth was gone based on MANY emails you wrote on various boards. One example "Seems to me that David Lee Roth won't be back, not now, not ever."

What happened to your analysis?

I wasn't alone.

Personally, I am surprised that Roth is back. I thought that given everything that supposedely was going on behind-the-scenes, reported run-ins with management, the terrible reviews, and reports of falling ratings (but then again, there probably wasn't anyone who could have held the ratings at the level of Howard Stern), Roth would have been canned.

I would think that unless his ratings go up, and quickly, Roth may still face an uphill battle in staying on the air.

Let's try to remember that we are three months into the post-Stern era, and there aren't going to be the kind of instant gratification decisions made that you predict.

Roth will be given time to find an audience. What he needs to do -- and what it sounds like he is going to try to do -- is get rid of the behind-the-scenes politics and the arguments with the CBS brass.<P ID="signature">______________

It is ridiculous for any intelligent person, in my opinion, to actually believe Mr. Roth would not be returning from his vacation. I am not in radio so I don't have all the inside information Joseph has, since he seems to have some significiant radio position..but Roth is not Mr. Stern, no one is and no one will ever achieve his ratings success with the present state of conservative, don't rock the boat radio.
 
You'd be surprised how many air people go on vacation and never come back. I don't get the point of "Dave Roth". Could be the kid next door, or an average air name. Wasn't the point to trade on DLR's name recognition? <P ID="signature">______________

Uh ... does anyone have an answer to the question that started this thread ... did anyone hear Roth last Friday and if so, comment on what they heard?
