It was announced today of the passing of Dave Sennett. Dave most recently worked at WHAM in Rochester but he had strong roots in Utica. He may have worked in Syracuse too. He was one of the first jocks at WTLB. One of the original "Alive Five" WTLB had changed calls from WGAT to WTLB and became one of the first 24 hour a day top 40 stations in the U. S. I beleive in 1956 or very early 1957. I believe Dave did afternoon drive at TLB and may have made the transision over from WGAT. This would make Dave Sennett one of first top 40 dj's in the country. He left Utica and made stops at WKBW in Buffalo and I beleive in Chicago and maybe some other large markets before coming to Rochester. Back in the 50's it would have easier for a jock with talent to move up quickly. Utica-Rome was a decent sized medium market back then. WTLB was one of very few full time top 40 stations and had a great reputation, so it would be easy to get your experience and move right up to a big market.
I had heard Dave on WHAM a few times -smooth is the word. Although I don't think I ever met him(except once when I was about 5 at a remote) he was know to be a great guy- a lot of class.
We'll miss you Dave.
