Dave Wagonvoord buys another radio station

Tom Taylor here at radio-info writes...

In Little Rock, 50-kw (daytime) KGHT is sold for $250,000. The buyer is a surprise, geographically – longtime Tampa station owner Dave Wagonvoord. But he bit on the offer to acquire Metropolitan Radio Group’s KGHT, Sheridan, Arkansas. The station’s got a potent 50,000 watts daytime at 880 – but just 220 watts when the artificial lights go on. Broker – John Pierce of John Pierce & Co. for the seller, Metropolitan’s Mark Acker.

The only thing I don't get is why did he use a broker? I thought he was a broker himself, but maybe no more.

I guess the price got right when Metropolitan took it silent last Tuesday (3/24/09) citing weather related problems at BOTH transmitter sites (yeh, right) and age of their equipment!

Dave is a broker, but the seller had it listed with a broker which obligated the buyer to go through them. Just like if you had a house I wanted listed with Coldwell, I would have to go through them instead of going directly to you.

Maybe I am misreading it but it seems he had a broker as a buyer, though.

Of course I understand if the seller has a broker you have to use him/her.

The big question is: what's he going to do with it? More of the Tan-Talk Radio Network - over a phone line?

I've already done imaging for that station, and as far as I know it's still not "quite" on yet...and I am enjoying all of my restaurant trade I got.

It is a long drive to Sheriden, Arkansas to visit the Homespun Inn Buffet, but it's free food..and really yummy vanilla pudding...try the honey biscuits.

.......and LA SAGN YA
