Some thoughts:

* It seems that maybe as soon as tomorrow, 49i will go back to the i format. That means constant infomercials and reruns of crap such as Doc. 6's signal is palatable in New Orleans and Chalmette, but it struggles across the lake. I wish it would stay as a WDSU simulcast.

* I like hearing that DTV could experience a boom here. I've not only read it in this article, but I've heard it from Rick Barber, the chief engineer at channel 4. If people have to replace their TV's, why not with good high-def ones?

WDSU better get their DT back up and running. 4, 8, 20, 49 and 54 are back. 26 and 38 are scheduled to get theirs back up by March. 6 might not be back until the end of '06!

* As an addendum to the article, WYES returned OTA yesterday. Of course, Charter still doesn't have them back.

The WDSU 6 signal is usable on the bayou but due to it's dial position among other things made for less of a signal quality than most other stations from New Orleans.. Simucast over 49 made for a lot better and clearer picture. If you ask me, they should have abandoned ch.6 and put money into picking up WPXL instead... considering the analog stuff will be supposedly turned off in the next 2 or so years (as per published time tables).. Why fight it (considering WDSU plans on abandoning the ch.6 frequency when they go DTV only in a few years.)

I agree, but then again the people with money will be able to do this but most others will still be forced with the choice of cable tv or a convertor come later in the decade.

Why 6 can't get it back up? equipment? Luckily the STAs they have blamed on Katrina will give them the year (Till September I figure anyway)

WYES is OTA with PBS National network feed and the Wyes logo on the screen all the time. I figured WLAE would have been on first but anyhow it's on cable relaying LPB (The PBS feed the rest of Louisiana gets from Baton Rouge)
