David Andrews

I'm hoping someone here can fill me in on a Kansas City radio personality from the 1960's named David Andrews. I have photos of my great grandmother at an event he held in May of 1967 or 1968. She and her friends drove up from Dallas to see him and it seems he was very popular, but I can't find much info about his show.

I've kind of wondered about him for several years now. One of the photos of my great grandmother in Kansas City was on display in my house growing up. I never thought to ask her about it when she was alive, but I do remember her saying something about a man on the radio she used to like.

He died a couple of years ago. I found his obituary here:

Is there anyone here who remembers him? What was his show like?

David Andrews liked to describe his show as neighbors talking over the back fence. The shows were almost always low key and free of controversy. I spent many nights during high school with my radio under the pillow listening to callers friendly banter until giving up about 2 am. Many years before this radio gig, he was known for working in the Brush Creek Follies in Kansas City.
