David Boeri's Comments on Howie Carr's "Book'

In a semi book review in The Sunday Boston Globe's Focus Section David Boeri writes that Howie Carr's book on the Brothers Bulger is nothing more than a collection of not very well written Herald colums by Carr and other Herald reporters on the history of the Bulger. That is the impression of anyone who has lived in the Boston area for more than a generation. Carr's "Book" is nothing more than a "best of" of other columns. Boeri comments that it might be interesting if you are not from this area. Boeri also knocks the non professional refrigerator magnets Howie Carr is giving away to promote his book.
Finally, but with out enumerating them David Boeri writes that Carr's book is full of errors.

A many time banned poster that was fired by WRKO continues his obsession with all things Howie Carr.

Get over it.

It's selling well--it was at #1 in the Globe's
Non-Fiction Best Seller's last week, and stores keep running out
of copies (replenished now, though). Actually I wouldn't mind a
collection of Howie columns from the past. He put a lot of work
in the past few years for this book--checking and re-checking
facts so they stand up. Not well written? If you hate Howie, then,
yes I can see you feeling that way.

I didn't get a chance to buy today's Glob. From what that sounds like,
it was worth not spending the $2.50.

Howie haters can tune in tonight on WRKO (AFTER the Celtics game) for his appearance on Pundit
Review later (will later be podcast) so they can throw eggs at their
radio (or, if they listen to the archived file, they can throw eggs at
their computer)

After reading Howie's book, I find it quite solid. Of course some of what he's done columns on appears there. He doesn't ignore topics in the book he's written about before, just to keep everything 100% "new."
He also in the book thanks people at the Globe for help they've given him, including the authors of Black Mass.
For those of us who have followed this drama over the past decade or so, Howie's book is a great read.
This ranting about him adds nothing to the discussion.

Boeri's comments are his and do not necessarily represent the views of the orginal poster or his sponsors. Try Prozac or in the alterative Thorozine. It might cure your obsession. We here are quite bored with it.

Reality Check time for radio has/never-been "Denny".

Howie Carr is #1 on the Globe list and #26 on Amazon.

Hmmmmmm......can you say "Movie Deal"??????????

(Cue Howie's Cagney sfx) "Top of the world, ma! Top of the world!"

Wrap your tiny, obsessed, disturbed mind around those facts. I bet it enrages you to see HIM succeed after all the "raw deals" you've allegedly been handed.

A local pro sports coach once said "The negativity in this town sucks!"

How true. And he never read once of your posts, under any of your BS screen names!

"Denny", your pharmacist will put your Prozac or Thorazine in a Pez dispenser if you ask him nicely.

Keep up the great work, Howie! Nice to see a local boy make Real Good.

Why the personal attack? Are you attacking this poster or David Boeri for his observations? Well, at least you have come out of the closet that "mikeradio" and "coolidge" are one and the same or at least a long time companions. Must have been a Brokeback moment for you both.

If you don't like what Boeri wrote that is one thing but don't kill the messenger.

Don't you ever come up with a new response when someone correctly points out that you are a board troll that has been banned dozens of times? You are parklane, Paul Yovino, Best and Brightest, etc., etc. etc.

How many dozens of times do you have to be banned before you take the hint? And why won't the moderators fix this problem?

I don't even know who "mikeradio" is or what you are talking about.

We know your views. You are still bitter about being fired by WRKO after 20 years and about what Howie Carr supposedly did to slight Jerry Williams.

OK, I give up.

Who is it?

Nice try, Den - Never met Coolidge - Just tired of the ax-grinding that some career-challenged individuals use this board to accomplish. Not a personal attack, per se, just addressing the broader malaise of envy handled via hateful posts re: Mr. Carr (who, if he's aware of our little "community" here, must be either shaking his head in wonder, or laughing his assets off!)

And why the homophobia? Haven't you heard thats passe'?

In spite of what you might read below I have no animus toward Howie Carr. The only thing that bothers me is that he often tries to hide his intelligence on his talk show just to come on as a street wise man of the people. In reality Howie is Phi Beta Kappa and is well read. It is his act the tires me.
Sorry if my attempt at humor came off as homophobic. It is just that you were saying the same words as coolidge. Seems coolidge never has a good word to say about any poster. You are truly blessed if you have no relationship with this individual. Again, I was noting David Boeri's comment which are not necessarily my own since I have not and have no intention to read Howie Carr's book. Crime stories just do not interest me no matter how well they may be written. Hope this ends the discussion and the personal attacks.

That Homophobia remark was my attempt at humor, as well. As I said, I don't know Coolidge, or anyone else on this board save the few who post under their real names. Agree or disagree, every poster here lays it out for comment & criticism from others. There are simply some ongoing themes from several posters who get tiresome to read. I'm late to the party here in agreeing with other posters to that effect. Others may consider my views in the same light. C'est la vie.

Radio is essentially about show biz (outside of news-radio formats, of course). Rush has his schtick, Howie may "dumb-down" to achieve a populist image for his radio show. Others in this market may be trying to occupy much larger shoes than necessarily fit (Paul Sullivan). Some may make outrageous statements on current events, like DePetro. Even if you don't listen to his show, you probably heard about what he said regarding the late Ms. St.Gillan via the newsmedia. You can't buy that kind of publicity, right?

What would you or I sound like if we had a radio show? We'd have to establish a persona to differentiate us from all the other voices on the air. Once you earn the timespot, you really have to work hard to keep it, as well as your audience and sponsors. There's always someone in the wings waiting for you to fall from grace.

Peace, bro'

Do you really think anyone buys that, Paul?

You've been using this web site as your personal, ugly, anti-Carr, hysterical soapbox for years and the moderators don't seem to have the will to make you stop, despite the fact that you've been banned dozens of times.

Take a good look at your behavior and ask yourself how anyone could possibly believe your above claim.

We aren't fooled.

Huh?
One word for you: Exlax.
Obviously, your constipated obsession may be gastro-intestinally related. :)

The only obsession around here is your obsession with trolling this board, no matter how many times you get banned, parklane.
