DAVID GUETTA's "SEXY BITCH/(CHICK)".......

Is it just me or are CHR stations playing this song at a much faster speed than when it was recorded? The radio edit that I have, (whether it's the clean or "bitch" version), is at 130bpm but, whenever I hear it on SirusXM 20 on 20, for instance, it's like 135 or higher. (for those that keep track of BPMs) Anyway, just wondering. I know dj's do this a lot with some songs.

Any thoughts?

Radio DJ's have nothing to do with it, if that's the kind of DJ you're referring to.

Some stations pitch up the entirety of their music as a competitive tactic. With automation systems, it's easy to adjust. When the station is competing against another station in the market that's extremely similar (in music), pitching up the music is supposed to make the station that does it sound more "fresh" or "exciting" when compared to the competition...even though there's nothing that proves it works.

The one on KZON is definitely faster, and they don't even pitch their music.
Well, not all of it.... but they do have one out of three edits of "birthday sex" that is 137 bpm, which is the one they tend to use most. I did also notice KZON sometimes uses (or used to use) a faster than normal "beautiful" by Akon. Lastly, they have an edit of "i gotta feeling" that has some very slight glitches in it. I'm sure it goes unnoticed by most though. KZZP and KKFR pitch their music so it's always going to be faster on those two. Not sure if KVIB or KMVA have "sexy bitch" in regular rotation yet.

I honestly hate when stations do that,, our 105.7 Hit music now does that alot, but its not so bad to speed up the tempo, but they speed up the pitch too and make the singer sound like a chipmunk or a meth head..... ;D
