DAVID II PROCESSOR

We have a David II processor and I am having problems with setup. We are using an STL (Mono) for now and when straight wiring the STL into the David II, it produces a flat, "tinnty" sound. We are using BNC out to our transmitter. Am I missing something somewhere? Where is the full, processed sound that we need?
 
Pre -Emphasis and De-Emphasis

Sounds like double Pre-Emphasis.

Some exciters have pre-emphasis set internally. Check the David to see if it has Pre-Emphasis set also.

Tinny audio is a sure sign of double pre-emphasis.

Agreed on the double pre-emphasis. Do you always plan to be mono? If so, you really need another processor...

We run a David II on one of our FM's and I'm very familiar with that design.
 
No, just for a while. Long story on that....

How do I eliminate or troubleshoot the double pre-emphasis on this model?
 
turn off or set to flat (zero) the pre-emph in everything except the processor,always best to have the pre-emph there.That may require moving jumpers.on the armstrong stl the in box pre-emph is defeated when using the composite in mode.(probably true with others)
