Re: David Lee Roth on WYSP! Joke!
Hope he was being 'funny'. My posts were written to the relevance of a radio board, not to 'the big picture' of life. NOTHING that ANYONE posts about here is really important or meaningful, it's for FUN, about radio. Admittedly it's all meaningless, but we all keep posting here anyway.
That being said, IF the #1 morning entertainment show for many years in this and many other markets had suddenly been cancelled today, it WOULD be a big story in the world of radio. My posts were 'as it happened' (disregarding the odd post times that come up) when I first heard the show, then realized it had to be fake, then after Howard came on. The "thank God" remark was made to be a joke (I hear Howard & other non-believers use that phrase all the time & just threw it in), and more a comment to how bad a DLR show could be if anything like this morning's put-on, not necessarily how good Howard's been lately. I have listened since day 1 at WNBC but have not listened to the whole show in a long time like I used to - I pretty much tune in on my commute & for Robin's news & Howard's commentary, still my favorite part of the show. But while Howard was off I tuned around and found no replacement that held my interest.
Howard said that DLR WILL replace him in some markets, and I can't imagine the real show to be much better than the impersonation today. If this really happens, it will shake things up, but where else will people go? This town is full of recycled morning shows - Preston & Steve, DeBella, Evans & Andie, Carter & Sanborn - where's the fresh talent?
