Dave could've hit a home run!
> Maybe DLR he can do what Stern did for the last 5+ years:

And here's where the thread officially loses most readers. Let's stick to the topic.
The fact is...David Lee Roth is still learning. He doesn't know how to do this yet. I'm betting the higher-ups are hoping he'll catch on quick. He is a bright, well-rounded, extremely intelligent guy, and equally if not superior as a PT Barnum showman as the man who preceded him.
What he needs is direction...something history has shown that David Lee Roth is not known for taking. He's an alpha male, and nobody can tell him what he's doing is wrong. He took this gig because nobody thinks he can pull it off. It's an adrenaline rush for the guy. He gets off on doing the un-doable.
So far, it's not as easy as he originally thought. Dave's going to realize that no matter how good he thinks his performance is...it ain't up to him. Tens of millions of dollars are on the line, and perhaps he's unaware of this fact.
I'm a huge fan. I hope he does well. But so far, the public doesn't seem to dig on David Lee Roth; Radio Guy.
His first show would've knocked the entire radio world out had he been able to talk Edward out of the bunker, and had him on at 8AM day one.
"Ladies and gentlemen..live in front of your naked steaming ears like a tomahawk cruise missile in your happy-hour cheerios...broadcasting live from Broadway to Cheyenne...I wanna welcome the king of ten fingers and six strings..Mr. Edwaaaaaard Van Haaaaaaaaalen!"
And just like the MTV VMAs a collective gasp would've swept across the US and the world via the internet.
He had 4-5 months to prep Eddie for it...and missed.
Even Alex, whom he claimed to have contacted, and quite frankly does all the talking for Edward in the professional sense anyway, would've been an awesome guest. If it's inevitable, why not use the pulpit to jump start that fervor now. Like Stern...he could've used the first year of his radio gig to promote the "Van Halen World Invasion 2007" tour. In year two..they take the radio show on the road and broadcast from every tour stop. It ain't as expensive as it used to be, and someone could've sold a sponsorship to pay for the satellite time. CBS could've sold the world broadcast rights for the first show, and made a mint!
Matt Sencio..are you reading this? I want my cut!!!!
