David may Wade over to Ch 4 (from 25)

Herald Inside Track says David Wade may bolt Ch 25 for Ch 4. If the news anchor does leave it could be a big blow for 25, which has been getting great ratings. 25 is even considering doing at 11 pm newscast
right up against the VHF's...

"Apparently, Wade’s contract at WFXT is up and, sources say, he wants out. While Maria Stephanos’ ever-popular co-anchor isn’t talking, our TV snitches say the Tewksbury homey met with ’BZ GM Ed Piette and even had a little screen test with morning gal Paula Ebben in New York."

why would he want to ruin his promissing career? ch.4 is the black hole of local tv news.
just ask chris may. wade should stay at fox25 if his agent knows what's good for his client.

I would assume the deal is done. TV Newsday reports that Mark Ockerbloom has been named 5p/5.30p/10p news anchor effective today.

maybe his better half can join him at 4 and they can become boston-tv's next 'chet and nat' for generation i-pod.
just kidding. but, seriously, this guy is effin overrated and he alwaus has that annoying sour puss look on camera. i can't watch him for more than 10 seconds. he makes chris may look like a superstar anchor. i am sticking with 7 - that's where all the hotties hang out.

Where is Bianca going? I mean, I know Wade and her are husband/wife but is she just quiting because her husband is working for the competition, did they fire her? Does she have a new gig?

doubt they fired her. he and she are probably going somewhere as a package deal. not uncommon in the tv biz.
my guess would be either 4 or 56. 4 has been rumored in the herald. i can see wbz using them for the 11 o'clock cast and trying to build a following with younger aud which watches latenight news. they may even take over the 9pm cast on 38(sara underwood is one of the worst prompter readers around and chris may has a personality of a pizza box). i can also see them anchoring early morning and noon on 4.(paula ebben has been absolutely plastic and wahle is just too much of a clown). eventually, they'll probably move dave and bianca to the 6pm to replace jack and lisa. plus, they're both born and bred in the boston area so i can see wbz promoting that element as well.

my other guess would be cw 56 where they're re-launching their cast in september(they rushed to take over from tribune a few months ago so didn't have time to transition properly).

i am not a fan of wade but maybe anchoring with his better half will make him more at ease and likeable.

my guess whoever hired them will make the announcement on monday after bianca's deal with wfxt officially ends tomorrow.

It's encouraging to hear someone else say that Chris is cardboard and Sara is a bad reader. They are like college kids on a first broadcast. And they are no better when teamed with Jack or Lisa. They just leave me flat, as does the stand-up set. Just can't watch them. Perhaps they'd fit better on MyTV!

Bye-Bye 'BZ

A Boston tipster insists former WFXT-25-Foxer David Wade and wife Bianca De La Garza have reached an agreement to co-anchor the weeknight 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts on CBS-owned WBZ-4 (Market #7). Contracts will be signed later this week.

Current weeknight 6 and 11 anchors Jack Williams and Lisa Hughes will move to the noon and 5:30 p.m. shows. Sara Underwood and Chris May, who now anchor the 5:30, will anchor only the 9 p.m. show on sister station WSBK-38. The tipster says to expect an announcement Wednesday, with the new anchor lineup to take effect in mid-to-late August.

I find it a little hard to believe. Hughes leaving the 6/11 I'll buy. But Williams? I doubt it. He's got notoriety in the marketplace and viewers may flock to him in search of a 'Natalie' replacement.

two things are definitely believable : package deal - bianca and dave will anchor together at ch.4; underwood and may will only have the 9pm cast on 38. that awful 38 cast doesn't has much of a future after summer anyway. may couldn't cut it at hunksville 7 and now his stock is dropping even faster at 4/38. it proves one thing - he's just not the anchor material.

other than that, i'll wait for the announcement and then offer my opinions on the moves at 4.

one final thought tonight : as i said in my earlier post in this thread, i am not a fan of wade's style. too stonefaced and robotic on camera. i just wonder how much of his and maria's success at 25 was attributed to crazy lead-in numbers from one popular talent show and how much of it is natural anchor talent/skill. american idol came on the same year they started anchoring over there(2002) and the rest we know. but then again, i am not a fan of 4's news so he and bianca maybe the right fit for that station.

Wade begins Monday, co-anchoring 5am-7am and middays with Paula Ebben. Scott Wahle moves to co-anchor TV38 News at 9pm with Sara Underwood and will report nightside.

mornings and noon are the least of 4's problems.
they need to address the mess at 5,6 and 11.

The 11pm is the most stable its been in well over decade. Their sweeps stuff lately has been quite good and LOCAL! 'Project Mass.' is admirable and the stuff they've showcased is interesting; 'Know:' has featured some interesting pieces (I liked the interviews with Carl Beane and Bill Brett); anything from the 'I-Team' is better than the drivel Hank spews (people jumping turnstiles at the T... why should I care).
