David Paul and The Regular Guys

Did anyone else here David Paul this morning on the Regular Guys? He was funny and got the phone lines heated up. Larry says he is going to offer David a position on TRG. Eric did not seem as impressed as Larry but I thought he was funnier and more engaging then anyone GST has put on including the wonderful, inceredible and completely irresistable Dino Costa.

He was pretty good, which has me wondering why he froze up on GST the other night after only 3 minutes on the air. I think that initially he may get curiosity listeners, but in the long term he would wilt under Boortz's popularity. Dino Costa impressed me, however, Kimmer said yesterday that he received an email from Costa blasting everyone at the station, and then took himself out of the rinning for the 9-Rush slot. Is this true?

David Paul the angry chauvinist

I thought the show was very funny. But, was David Paul a little chauvinistic? I think the regular guys should refer to him as 'David Paul, the angry chauvinist.'
Edited by LazyBoardOP on 06/15/05 07:10 PM.

True but with a twist.

Dino hit it off pretty well with Kimmer when he was in Atlanta and provided Kimmer with a tongue in cheek press release yesterday giving Kimmer some fodder and more material for his show.

At first I thought Kimmer was just playing around so I emailed Dino and received a return message from him this morning confirming that he did pull himself out of the competition, and he also explained what Kimmer was doing with that announcment yesterday.

Thanks, but why did he take himself out? I thought for sure he had a good chance of landing the job. Now GST is back to square one. Pete Davis and Wayne are enterrtaining, but so was Glenn Beck, and we all khow about his ratings. Other than that, there is no one I've heard that will challenge Boortz. That being said, I remember when Hannity first started on WGST, I couldn't stand him, but after I listened for awhile, and he grew on me. I hope GST finds someone who will give Boortz a run for his money. What a blow hard.

Costa email

Here is the exact message I received from Costa. Hope this helps:

Thanks for taking the time to write.

No the press release was completely tongue in cheek and I was only too happy to provide the Kimmer with what turned out to be some hilarious stuff.

Kimmer's a great guy and I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with him and Wayne when I was in Atlanta.

As for the decision I made it has nothing at all to do with being unhappy with anything or anyone. It's just that the process is far from being completed at GST - they'll be bringing in many more people to audition including some pretty big names from what I understand, and based upon the current arrangement of things I just decided to pursue some other opportunities. I could have done another audition but decided instead to look at some other things.

GST is a great station with tremendous potential - and the Clear Channel building in Atlanta is filled with some of the most sincere and well intentioned people I've run across in this industry.

Keep listening...and thanks again for your kind words!

I was wondering what was with that GST poll where it now says Jim Gosset as Dino Costa. That sucks. I agree Costa was a good one. But what is with this process having a long way to go as Costa makes mention of in that message? Are they serious? How long can this audition stuff go on? By the way Jeffco what is Dino's email address if you don't mind?
