David Poole

I've been meaning to mention him for several weeks now.

He wasn't the first to do "Sports on the Air" in the Observer, but he was the best.

When Langston Wertz took over after Poole went to NASCAR (who would have ever believed back then he'd almost make us forget Tom Higgins?), he just wasn't as committed. He was doing high school coverage too.

I forget which one of them followed closely the evolution of WFNZ into a major force in Charlotte radio. I guess it was Wertz because seems like Higgins had retired by the time WFNZ realized they'd better do something or else.

And Poole was even on Sirius.
