David Simpson

David Simpson has been filling in this past Week on 96.5 Tic Fm HArtford for Damon Scott. David has been there (and WPLJ) for many Years scence PRO FM, But untill this Week, He was never the "old" David We knew from PRO FM. I was Driving Home and I heard Him Talking to Mark the Shark (Traffic Reporter) and i heard the "ol'" YEAH (from the Beastie Boys) Sound Effect He loved to play (And appearentlly still Does LOL!). Normally when He fills in, He is VERY mellow and NEVER mentions His Name. It was almost like a Home coming listening to Him this Week, Although I did not hear an "I AM ....David Simpson" Or Him refer to John Cougar Melloncamp as John Cougar Mellonhead. It was like an old trip down Memerory Lane. To also add to that feeling Mike Kelly was doing Monings this past Week there, formerly of WKRI West Warwick and Fun 107. He is normally the overnight Guy there at TIC. Also We can't forget about of of the best DJ's to ever come out of RI works at WEBE 108 Afternnon Drive Robby Bridges. Now all I need is a Del's and Hot Weiner and I would think i was back in the 401!

Here he is from his days on Pro-FM. Best jock around. I Love his delivery. He's not screaming like a maniac. He's not trying to be funny or over the top. He's just presenting the music in a relaxed way where "HE" is the one having some fun. But at the same time allowing the music to be the star of the show. Simpson struck just the right balance. I will always respect this guy for keeping it interesting without having to do much at all. He was just being himself and it worked!

Man, I wish I knew this ahead of time... I would have tuned in! David's great. I remember him very well when he was on PRO-FM.

BTW, hey Jayday! Haven't talked to you in forever. Keep in touch :)

Thanks John! I listen to 'PLJ here and there and heard him a lot last summer overnight weekends I think. On 'PLJ he didn't mention his name hardly ever and was more streamlined. I love the fun personality he has when he lets it out. :)

Oh btw, I have a clip that a friend gave me of David doing a shift around 1996 on Mix 98.5 in Boston! He was there for a little while in the mid-'90s.

You're welcome. Yeah the fun side of Simpson is what makes him so great on the air. I haven't heard the guy in years and years. So I might not like his current persona so much. I think I would actually listen to Pro-FM again if he were on.

Bump.

David Simpson will be filling in for Joe Hahn on LITE 100.5 WRCH in Hartford this afternoon from 2PM-7PM because Joe is sick. There's nothing worse than being sick on ones birthday. Listen online: http://www.wrch.com/

Thanks. I plan on tuning in. I'm actually listening now before he even gets here. I sure wish he were working on a different format though. I'm not a fan of any station calling itself LITE. It's just not my style of music. Great for Soccer Moms. Not so good for me. I might just turn down the volume until 2.

Keep In Mind WRCH is An Adult AC and Softer than A Lite Rock 105. You Should have heard Him a couple of Weeks ago on TIC, That was almost like Listening To Pro Fm back in the Late Eighties.

Dave Stewart worked Midnight to 5:30 at PRO-FM. When GM Mitch Dolan, PD Tom Cuddy were promoted to WPLJ in New York, Stewart followed shortly there after. Also Tony Mascaro who became Cuddy's assistant music director. All super qualified individuals who honed their skills for Capital Cities in Providence and became mainstays in the very competitive New York Market.

I kind of remembered the name after I posted, but I just wasn't sure when he was on. He didn't stand out in my mind like certain others at the station did. I can remember everyone elses voice, but for some reason I can't even remotely remember Dave Stewart's.

Did Dave Stewart do overnights before Todzilla? I can remember him doing some weekend work, but I never remember him on overnights in the early '90s. I do remember him, however, on 'PLJ overnights.
