Now its down to psychology.

Do you have an actor or actress you just don't like ? Tried more than one of their movies and naahhh can't do it ? They may give the best performance ever in a film - but you don't care - you don't like them ?

Or how about that kid in high school - they wore ok clothes were ok smart - but just a friggin idiot and no matter how they tried to reinvent themselves - and we all knew those kids who tried - no matter what they did, they were still perceived as a friggin idiot.

The Bull started with the tone they have now, two years ago. Then they went to easy listening Real Relaxing Country, jocks sounding like turtleneck wearing Starbucks city boys...WTF? Syndicated Big D and Bubba - Whorrific Cledus T. Dudd. - Now add drastic music changes, dumb dumb dumb imaging, hold that then no imaging - dead segs - lots of them. And Zero FUN on the air with listeners - might wrinkle the turtleneck.

SO the point - the bull will most likely - given the brilliance they've already displayed - never make it to where they want to be. People like to associate and gravitate to Leaders, it makes them feel better about themselves. The bull doesn't know how to be cool, they don't know how to be a leader. They would need someone cool in the building they would need a leader. Kicks has an attitude, and it can be obnoxious, but it certainly sounds more confident than PushOver - Wuss attitude.

Well over 3million later how are they not looking at the head hauncho for programming and saying - "Dude - 2+ years, MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars, TV, Billboards, Promotional CASH, Mailout marketing, staff changes and this is what you produce?"

Amazing...LOL. How about the CC clusters around the region that had their budgets raped by Corporate so Atlanta could produce...ahh... could produce...nothing. How many 30 to 50K a year staffers could be paid on what has been pissed away by WUBL alone ?

I'm coming at this from the standpoint of how amazing the waste a bad programming is. Its their money and their business to do with what they want - and WOW are they...LOL.

Who knows maybe they could turn it around....ya think ?

Clay HAS to make Country work or he'll be makin phone calls to Tribune asking for a job. I was told by Lance that the "Bull" wanted that sound. They wanted to fly under the radar on-air. From the jock delivery to the imaging to the music... STUPID in my opinion. Country is supposed to be fun!!!

They did it all wrong, spent a lot of money, fired good people and Clay gets a raise SWEEEEET!

It can't just be Clay Hunnicutt - every format CC has attempted in ATL has been done just plain 'ol wrong. I can't remember a single instance of good execution.
You know......it's really the essence of the ClearChannel/Jacor coporate culture that's the problem. It goes back to Randy Michaels and the monster he created. Micheals wagered that he could take his Ohio flavored programming and force feed it to the nation. I'm still in awe at how bad the execution of these formats were/are (although they seem to work in Cinncinnati) and how totally lacking in intelligence and maturity they are. I hated the way all the jocks sounded......lot's of "junior voices" doing a "pull my finger" schtick.
Everything CC attempts still has that "sound" to me. And I think that is the problem.

Tom... thats a very good point. I listen to WLW a lot on XM and I really don't get their success. Its a very small market sounding station IMO.

Are there shows that WLW can't put on satellite?

Only sports.

WLW has had terrible luck syndicating shows too. Gary Burbank's syndication fell apart. Premiere canceled Mike McConnell earlier this year, and America's Trucking Network is barely hanging onto its last two affiliates, which don't even carry the entire show. The former two ended up reverting to local shows again. Bill Cunningham and Mike McConnell's weekend shows are still going strong, but both hosts replaced another who had already built their syndication base into the hundreds.
