Daybreak OC Cancelled!

errrr.....make that on long hiatus....yeah, that's it ::)

We have tried to provide a voice for Orange County with DayBreak OC, and I think our staff has produced an excellent show. Unfortunately, the LA advertising market has declined precipitously and is just too weak to support DayBreak OC which is an extremely expensive proposition for our station.

I would personally like to thank each and every person who has worked on DayBreak OC as a full or part-time employee or as an intern. They have all done a great job. I would also like to thank all of our guests and our fans and viewers. As soon as we see a turn-around to this current media recession, we intend to resume our newscast.

- Bert Ellis, Owner KDOC-TV

Matlock has moved into the 10-11am slot for now.

...and nothing of value was lost.

With the money they'll save by not showing Daybreak OC they should put Bohemia Visual Music back on 56.3

Ah, that's reassuring. For a moment there I thought she might end up collecting Food Stamps or, worse, get a real job in broadcasting.

Actually, Bert Ellis isn't being smart about Daybreak OC. He claims that the show was cancelled because it cost too much and the ad revenue wasn't there to support it.

He should have taken a page from KDOC's previous owners. On the Wally George Show, guests actually paid to get on. I know that to be true because a couple of my freelance clients paid 750.00 a pop to get a few minutes with Wally.

Daybreak OC could have been one giant infomercial (with a little local news thrown produced by college interns).

Now that's a great idea. Broadcasting at it's best. And it sure beats watching loose "info" ads about colon cleaners. Hell --- why not just play re-runs of Wally George. I bet that "bimbo" on the park bench that does promo ads will have her own show by next month.

Already suggested. Many of the shows were taped over by the previous station manager before the sale to save money.

The UCLA film and TV archive has some backups (about 40 shows).
