Daylon Rushing, a teen heart throb DJ at *WALT* and *WLCY* in the hey days of the mid 60s passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at age 64.
Daylon had been battling health issues the better part of the last 20 years.

He was first on the air at *WUSF* when he 13 years old, went to to become of the hottest commodities of the mid 60s. He worked at *WFUN* in
*Miami* for a period of time, always scoring high ratings. He is survived by his father.

*Daylon Rushing*and I were kids together in this business many years ago, we kept in touch throughout the years, some which were tumultuous for *Daylon*. He was battling some demons, but always seem to overcome them. He was a “radio junkie”; had studios in his home in *Temple Terrace*, and would broadcast programs syndicated to other markets. He was always planning a comeback of sorts; it’s a huge loss to those who remember the *Golden Era*, an era that *Daylon* was an integral part of.

Sorry to hear about his passing. I recall when Daylon was synonymous with WALT Radio back in the 1960s, a name and voice everyone knew.
