Dayparting on WLTW

I heard a personality on Lite FM mention that each weekday at 2 PM., they will have a commercial-free hour of upbeat songs. He said the idea is to give their listeners a lift during mid-afternoon hours; There will be, "No ballads."
Perhaps quite a few people feel a bit sluggish around that time, and could use a bit of relatively energetic music.

Good thing Lite FM doesn't take requests - hate to have the 2 PM hour derailed by a "dog death dedication." ::)

For what it's worth Barry, having an hour dedicated to upbeat/up temp songs in the middle of the afternoon is not really dayparting. Dayparting is when a station will only play a song during certain day parts such as morning/afternoon drive, mid days, or evenings. More often that not, dayparted songs on a station like WLTW are usually limited to evenings or overnights because they're just a tad too loud for the at-work listening audience.

"Dayparting" - which also qualifies as code for "the no-repeat workday!" ::)
