Daytimer beats KT'R-FM...Again!

YIKES!

Okay, so KNAI is on a little longer than a daytimer (5a-7:30pm), but still this is the second time it beat 92~Three in the all important 6+ ratings. Other incredible feats of Julio istenership here: http://www.radio-info.com/markets/phoenix

Uh oh. What happened to KYOT-FM after its "no brainer" format flip? Down over a point
from last month.

I thought R&B oldies was supposed to be its savior, not to mention taking some listeners
away from KOOL-FM. I know these are the throwaway 6+ numbers, but still...

I suspect it may not be too early to gloat over the KYOT flip.

According to this board they were profitable, had a niche format no one else was likely to challenge and a boatload of loyal listeners.

Pfffffft!

I believe Clear Channel is hoping KYOT tanks. Local CC management wants to get KFYI on an FM stick and San Antone needs to see a weak FM to flip before they'll consider it.

If that were true, they wouldn't be blowing money on a television ad campaign as they currently are.

The problem as our four beady little eyes see it is twofold: FM Music stations can be cash cows, and what to do with 5~Fifty if KFWhyEye moves to FM. Trailing KT'R in the ratings is no big deal when you look at the commanding share of audience Clear Channel has in Phoenix. And those ratings include three CC Ancient Modulation stations. As much as Nurse Jeff and I'd like to have KFWhyEye on FM, we don't think CC is anywhere near to giving up on installing a younger demo generating music format on 95~Five.
