After checking out some old Columbus Dispatch articles on WRFD and Salem Media, I found that Salem purchased
WRFD in 1982. That being the case, WRFD must be one of their first stations outside their North Carolina base.
That also says something for Salem's longevity in Columbus and why they would choose to leave Columbus after
some many years in this market.

Oh, and you can't believe everything you read in the FCC's database. :eek:

Salem is based out of California, not North Carolina and yes WRFD was the second property they purchased.
 
Sorry I didn't add this into the post previous...just curious if anyone knows for sure what CVO intends on doing with RFD?

Staffing changes?
Format tweaks?

I just went to the WRFD website and noticed they are still using the Salem website and I didn't notice any programming changes but then again I can't tell you when I listened to WRFD....years ago.

Your guess is as good as mine. I would assume that they would make it a flagship for "The Promise Radio Network", but then again only Dan and the boys on Johnstown rd. know for sure.

Don't you think its kinda soon? I'd say give it a few more weeks, maybe even months for the deal to get finished.

That is correct, Salem Media is based out of California. The very first station they purchased was in North Carolina and one of co-founders, Stuart Epperson still lives in North Carolina to this very day. So, there is a
North Carolina connection and Salem Media may have been based in North Carlina during its infancy.

Thanks for the correction. I was under the impression Stuart Epperson was the sole founder of the company.
