Dayton Ratings minus Mainline

No real surprises in the latest ratings for Dayton. 'LQT jumps 6.6-10.4 for their annual Christmas music, 'HIO-AM jumps 7.6-9.3 for their election coverage, and 'MMX goes 5.4-6.0. The only real shocker is the drop for WLW, which goes 5.4-2.9...surprising giving it was election season. Once again Mainline is missing due to this survey being subscribers only, which just sucks. Can anyone provide an update on their numbers? ???

Mainline is not, as I have heard, buying the book.

Therefore, no figures can be quoted, as they are copyright to Arbitron.

Sorry, but if you want the numbers, you gotta subscribe.

Channel 945 had a big jump. I wonder about Mainline too. Has FLY reached the swatter yet?
Fly is Mainline's baby, just like Hot was Radio One's baby. It's cheap to run and it's their format of choice. Unless Mainline sells off 92.9, they will never flip it.
Channel did have a nice jump...and they did it without Christmas music. ;D

LOL Channel threw a couple of those XMAS tunes in during the season but if you take a look at
http:www.channel945.com/iplaylist you will see they have improved big time on the hits. They're sticking with the mainstream route, and they got fresh jingles and imaging in. It's one of the first times they have hit the 3's in a long time. I wonder if Hot took a bump because of Channel's job well done?

I cant post numbers or provide too much insight. However I can tell you that HOT held its ground pretty well. No slippage, from FLY either. Actually FLY went up another notch.

DKF's numbers came from somewhere...still trying to figure out where?

WDKF has been sounding a lot better. Tune in, hear the new voiceguy, hear the improved music mix, and the interaction they got with the text requests. The message board is being answered again. They just got a better product going now. Drake is spending time on it. I'd like to see them go up again.

Could the numbers be because of the better product? The remotes they've been doing? Concerts and celebrities hookup? And I wonder how Dave & Jimmy is doing in the morning.

Product could be one thing...you gotta remember Dave & Jimmy rule mornings in Columbus. (Sorry to those of you who preach "live and local".) And with Z-93 now fully and completely a memory, 94-5 could possibly be seeing the benefits of more listening occasions, leading to higher cume. And with CHR, it's not TSL (though it doesn't hurt when TSL goes up), it's all about the cume...

Yeah but Hot 1029 (as watered down as they are) have stolen most of the Z93 listeners. They sent all of them to HOT before they signed off. HOT still plays JT, Lady Gaga, and some of the hit music. Channel is spending a lot of time on their playlist and Drake said on the message board, "It's only going to get hotter as the weeks go." If Channel stays consistent in their numbers, I'll believe they actually are getting those listeners I thought they never had. If they drop back down to the 2's for the next book, it was just a good book.

Remember that WDKF and WDSJ are in the land of spin off.

DKF's numbers=Diary placement? Just a guess...especially with their spotty signal north of Dayton.
Did Fly beat Mix again? Fly has done well even with a lot of nay-sayers in the beginning. Mix should've never ignored them.
Also...this is just a guess and a theory, but say 94.5 is sold off and flipped...IN THEORY, Mainline could make Hot a full-blown CHR/Pop, and move the CHurban back to 92.1 and bring back U-92 Jamz. The likelihood of this happening is slim to none, and slim just left town. ;D

Rumor is Brewer Broadcasting (ala Richmond and Chattanooga) are in the looking crowd at WDSJ and WDKF. I assume, they would move WDSJ into the Richmond cluster and maybe use WDKF as a simulcast?

Which would leave us with no CHR. CHR is not going anywhere. If it leaves, it will come back somewhere else. Bottom line.

Yeah...probably on a station I've spoken about here. Film at 11.
