I hope that Click will be a success both in ratings and revenue. Hopefully, WIZE will fill the void of airing play by play of high school sports left by Kiss Country.

The thing that bothers me these days are the number of people who have stopped listening to commercial radio. There are a lot reasons for this including the lack of really good local air talent and the way many of the companies are running their stations without a solid personality on the air.

Another concern is even when you have a local AM operation doing a fine job of local high school sports coverage and local news they are not geeting the support they need.

Is there an answer? Most likely not. I don't see AM operators trying to go with a different format than the standard ones we have today.

Part of the reason why K-99 has been succesful is because they realize they need solid air talent. I hope Main Line will soon realize why they need to get a live air talent on morning drive on Click and Fly.

I agree that CLiCK and Fly need a morning host stat. Rumor had it back in '08 that a former Z-93 morning personality was headed back to 92.9...but it never happened. This individual did work at an Adult Hits station elsewhere though...
CLiCK needs some local jocks on there to give the station some additional sizzle to their steak. Scott Sands has been on-air a few times at different times during the day. I'm not sure if Scott(The CLiCK PD)has hired anyone yet. Awhile back they had an opening advertised in one of the trades for an on-air personality.

IMO, Mainline is not going to invest in air talent. IF they were going to, don't you think they would have by now on Fly?
Mainline lives to bring money to it's investors as any other company, but if you can do it within your criteria for profit, why would they hire jocks who take from that profit?
One could argue that air talent could enhance the station and that would add profit. But that is a tough sell since the only SURE thing is that you have to put out salaries for the talent.
I would suppose all of you have an mp3 player or ipod. And as such how many of you make vocal mp3's to go with the music, you know like a jock does? None! And that is why in addition to salaries why most owners choose liners over jocks.
This is 2011 not 1985 and radio has changed.
Maybe a morning drive talent, but I do not see any others on either station. They are music oriented not news/talk.

Agreed zburns. Anyhow, CLiCK needs at least one local air talent(Fly already has Danielle), perhaps 10A-4P like Danielle on Fly? Scott Sands could always just VT it and go from there.
CLiCK uses a ton of liners. Whoever does their imaging does a great job. They have some of the best in the market. Fly's imaging is OK at best...I am no fan of John O'Hurley. Hot's has been the same since they launched(It's not bad), and I also like Channel 99.9's imaging.

Hot has been jockless from 10a-2p for over a year now. They're #2 in the city! zburns is right. They don't wanna invest in air talent. As far as imaging goes, Click must have an outstanding imaging package very similar to Q102, constantly being updated. Fly's imaging gets the job done. Hot has new imaging, just the same voiceguy. They run listener drops and quick sweeps to overlap songs now, it sounds a lot better. Channel's imaging would be better if it had jingles, but it's pretty good! They use the same voiceguy/voicegirl as Z100. As far as it being updated, we'll see.

Main Line won't invest in air talent. If they wanted to, they would've never blown up Z-93 to run the iPod-on-a-stick Fly 92.9. The last 10A-2P jock on Hot was Angel O'Shea, who moved to WROU after Bob Summers left in early 2009. 2 1/2 years later, no one on Hot middays.
CLiCK's imaging is great.
I used to like Mix 107.7's imaging before Brian James's untimely death in '09. That guy that replaced him isn't very good, whomever he is. I'm not Mix bashing, but I just don't like their imaging.
