Daytona has a new radio station.

Hello to all. There is a new station from Daytona on 99.5 called wlov fm. I can't get it all that well here in Altamonte but it seems interesting. It said something about soft favorites. I just found it by accident when I was DXing earlier.

Heard it yesterday driving home to Orlando. What's the story, any jocks, not much talk? Are they able to sell this successfully?

It almost reminds me of WMMO a bit. WMMO does not have the best of coverage in Daytona if I remember correctly. I actually kinda like it.

WLOV is Commercial Free and Jockless for now...the Commercial Free until around late June/Early July. Black Crow will have Jocks in place by the Fall we are hearing there will be Jocks Around the Clock.

I hope they web stream. But the only black crow station I know that web streams is WNDB. I dxed them again today and liked what I heard. I really think that this station will work good in Daytona. I wished I could hear them better in Altamonte but I'll take what I can get. Luckily 99.5 from tampa is not all that strong here. It reminds me of 98.9 from the 90s somewhat. Or even magic back in the days. I really like the variety they have. A little OT but I like beach 92.7 from Flagler as well. They actually have good sound quality. I was in Flagler county in 2010 and listened to beach.

Driving about this morning in Deltona I listened to WLOV for a bit. The reception was not bad. I will sample some more later today when I am in Daytona Beach.

Daytona's demos are very old. When what is now Star 94.5 was just a local Daytona signal doing a format like this it did well, up there with 99.9 and WNDB in terms of local audience. This could be a local equivalent to Tampa Bay's WDUV.

The fact that 94.5 and 99.9 have been moved to bigger markets tells you how little money there is in Daytona.

Better work on tweaking the product. In less than 24 hours I heard 3 George Michael songs. I think he only had 3 legit hits. But a little space and a larger playlist is certainly worth considering.

Good luck, decent signal and always nice to hear a new/different product.

Speculation on the new format? What are the viable options in the Daytona Beach market?
