They also broadcast in mono now, supposedly to get the signal farther. Kevin Fodor posted something about this on the Cincinnati boards.
The Point was an OK station music-wise, but it sounded terrible DJ-wise. The station was all voice tracked(Even the morning show), using DJs from its sister station, which is also owned by COX, K-99/WHKO. This was not the faults of the DJs, who were all very talented people, but the way the station was programmed. It was basically the last song title and what songs were next...It felt too robotic in my opinion. Compared to other former 80s oldies stations, such as WXST/Star 107.9 in Columbus, and even Hot AC WMMX/Mix 107.7, which leans towards the 80s a bit, the playlist was very, very thin. Mostly rock of the 80s, kind of like 105.7 The Brew in Columbus. I guess anything is better than a repeater of a talk station, though. ;D
