DBO's Heather Jackson sounds like Jessie Jackson (overnight)

If left to their own devices, they're not as likely to learn that talking, simply reading aloud and conveying news or any other message to the radio listener are three distinctly different skills.

I agree with you on the importance of a mentor/coach. You are correct OG in their ear may not pick up things. What the off-air practicing can do is help them build confidence, expecially when they do it as a mock on-air element. Recording these mock ups and reviewing them can be of help. It can assist in removing some frustration factor. I have used this with newbies as OM/PD (along with air checking).

Ahhhh....she ain't that bad..

She has to be quick and get in a lot of updates in about two minutes..

I was listening the other night and she just about fell apart, but made a great recovery...

All and all, I think she is alright.....

Heather does a fine job, and this is a non issue. I don't know why someone would choose to single her out. I worked on WDBO for six years, and just got worse as the years went on. Nobody seemed to mind then. I would have loved for someone to call up and tell me I sucked. ;)
