DBX160a VS Pro Announcer

I recall back when i was programming late 80s i went looking to replace the inboard mic compressor which by the way those inboard compressors were great!

I first put on a dbx 160a...it sounded thin compared to the inbord compressor. Then i got a la4. It was great. However i had used the DBX160a at another station and it sounded great. Keep in mind i'm looking for a comprssor that will do at least 40-60db GR The DBX and LA4 do that and several years ago i found the Pro Announcer squeezed real good for those hot car/truck spots.

How does the DBX 160a stack up to the Pro Announcer? Your thoughts.

No comparison there..but there is a dollar difference. I am very pleased with the Wheatstone VORSIS M1 that I am using until my two AirCorp boxes return from repair..VERY nice result, but it IS digital, and you can hear that annoying little "delay" in your phones..I stopped using headphones, and I gotta tell ya the M1 is NICE. You can adjust the attack/release of the EXPANDER as well as the COMPRESSOR..and the parametric 4 band EQ is really nice..plus it has a separate set of filters, and you can save a setting as a preset, and IMPORT it to another M1 if need be..all with a computer interface and software

Might need to make the M1 my primary box even after the AirCorps return
