DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

Holding the title for Lousiest Top Radio Market CBS continues to fend off other broadcasting contenders with spectacular precision. Despite efforts by Radio One and Clear Channel the media giant remains the blind, deaf and dumb champion of wasted airwaves. Jockless mediocre formats, continued programs of obvious failure, total disregard to listeners requests and demands.....it seems no one can touch the magnificent morons!!! The quick death of almost successful WARW....the uncanny shell game of imaging of WPGC....the wax-in-the-ears trick used for WJFK... the eyes closed to the absence of an audience for WLZL....and last but not least the slow sadistic torture, labotomy and dismemberment of 99.1/105.7 WHFS....these monumental feats of fornicated frequency modulation will go down in history as one of the most heinous reigns of a so called group of minds mankind has ever had the displeasure to witness. Only a deliberate atrocity could be worse. Any other profession would be destroyed by such continued inferiority. Only Howard Hughes could claim more distance from reality. I applaud you CBS for equalling the stubborness and awareness of a toddler yet retaining the shirt on your backs. This is the height of corporate glory,to excel and prosper in an environment you have no clue about. Take another swing CBS....give us a talk show with the Slap Chop guy...cover some wimbledon and chess matches....syndicate a radio version of Pimp My Trailer.....flip your best rated station to Polka....yes the well of dumb ideas is deep.... you're almost to the bottom. We Hate Felonious Stupidity.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

Sure you can hear it! You just have to spend more money, whats wrong with that these days? I hear HD doesn't perform as well as promised so if you live in the shadow of the Fresh tower you might be able to. I used to rig up antennas, stand on my head, stick my tongue out whatever it took to get that signal.....how do you stick the antenna 'between' the signals?

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

Yes it's been confirmed. WHFS2 to 'debut' on 94.7 Fresh FM's HD2 channel. And 'later' to be streamed. This all means if you have an HD radio(which aren't exactly flying off the shelves like Ibiquity anticipated) OR the money to blow on one you can listen to the 'new' HFS2.....if you're close to DC....if the signal reaches you. Kinda like when they were a low watter in Bethesda,MD. Or you can wait until it's streaming....if you have access to a computer....or money to blow on mobile streaming technology. Yes CBS is going ALL OUT to bring WHFS to loyal, impatient listeners....for instance they are single mindedly passing by 19th place WLZL with corporate grade tunnel vision to broadcast from the narrow closet of 17th place WTGB. It seems you have to be part of an exclusive club to listen to good music. Oh waitaminute.....I'm already part of 'an exclusive club' with a hard to get signal.....it's in Grasonville/Annapolis. Oh the many ghosts of 'hfs......

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

WHFS2 made it's debut today at 12 on 94.7 Fresh FM HD2 and it sounded....I dunno what it sounded like. I'm outside WTGB's signal range so even with HD I couldn't have listened without driving to DC. I read a few comments on websites about it. A listener in Arlington,VA says HFS2 is coming in strong where he lives while he can't get DC101's HD2 signal there. The HFS2 website is currently just a new version of a new version of an old 99.1 FM WHFS logo. Word is it will be streaming " in the weeks ahead".....weeks....(insert jaw dropping ear shattering expletives here) Well they're back in Bethesda where they started but as far as my radio goes they may as well be back on that 3kw stick. If if were FM I'm sure I'd find a way to pull that signal in ...wear a tinfoil hat....hook the antenna to a transformer....I dunno....HD makes it a moot point. And drywall dust doesn't do electronics much good so no streaming on the job. 94.7.....Well That G*d^mn Blows

That's Cheap Channel's problem.

I'd say not the only one.
The title of this thread should read "Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS". I imagine some listeners in DC and Annapolis, with Ibiquity radio, in a good spot, can get HFS. 2. And in coming weeks the stream may be heard. Not the same as turning on an FM radio and hearing WHFS.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

yes not baltimore listeners like myself are not getting HFS....i don't even really bother with 104.3 it tries to hard to be hfs and it's not.....its like giving someone the best present ever a few years ago bringing hfs and hfs2 to baltimore, then taking it away, and giving it to your step brother. it's cool thats its back but i can only listen on the computer, and why did buy an hd radio for my car...oh yes to listen to spams hfs2 which was the most wonderful staion ever. i head limp biscuit on hfs2 yesterday and cringed. oh no....

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

i'm listening to TGB2 right now, online of course, and it's almost good ...better than anything analog FM has but still it's like the programmer is calling someone who has a clue for advice and only using some of it. Spam did an awesome job with HFS2 Baltimore. I could still only listen at home since computers and drywall dust aren't really compatible and I've read too much about weak HD reach to spend money on an I-Hissquity radio. Ironically the Spanish construction workers who used to torture us with 99.1 El Zol now listen to WPOC or other English stations. The 99.1 signal now reaches MUCH further then ever before and into places where I once had to switch over to Y100 Media/Philly due to unlistenable mixes of HFS and WJBR override. Speaking of HD: Y-Rock on XPN ie. the resurrected WPLY 100.3 Y100 is on 88.5 HD2 Philly and 88.7 HD2 Harrisburg. I get one or the other clearly far into Baltimore county on 'regular' FM and wonder if the HD2 channels can be heard as well. If so you can enjoy Philly's Modern/Laternative/Indie/Whatever on HD ;D

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

No i cannot get Philly channels...until i get around Wilmington Delaware...I am very much enjoying HFS 2 heard some good stuff such as Cerphe's Rollling Stones "2120 South Michagan Ave" by the Rolling Stones, followed by the new Pearl Jam "The Fixer", then Offspring from HFStival 2004 "Gone Away" (which my girlfriend requested for me and her in order neat!), Morrissey "Hairdresser On Fire", Devo "Girl You Want" some Disturbed which i still think does not belong on HFS, but i'm learning to deal with the Shinedowns, and Anberlins to get to the good stuff. Overall I very much enjoy the new HFS2. I think the Six Pack is an awesome idea which i'd do if i had a digital voice recorder...3 hour long blocks of Depeche Mode today at 12, 4, and 10 "Martyr", "Personal Jesus" acoustic, "Suffer Well" "john the revalator" "Precious" and "It's No Good" some one the neat ones included for the concert tonight. Clash "Straight to Hell" been hearing that one alot. Paired with MIAS paper planes the other day which was cool to hear together tho i am not really an MIA fan...
HFS is very cool, always enjoy waking up to Joe Jackson live! I like where this HFS is headed.... :) Its been a very enjoyable 2 months since this new HFS 2 is back. It is like WHFS on 105.7 as far as being true to its format, but also has Metallica, Staind, Shinedown, Papa Bug, Linkin Park...but thats ok...it was nice not hearing it as much on Spams HFS2...but i can deal with it because of all the stuff that is being played that I've not heard since I was little, ever, or since 105.7 HFS went away. Its everything 98 rock isn't and that is why i love it so much...

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

yeah way too much active rock but also alot of rarely heard alternative ,however i'm still listening to my mp3 most days since WTGB's signal doesn't and never will reach my area.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

I agree that HFS 2 is somewhat entertaining as a mainstream commercial-free active/alt-rock crossover format, but for an example of a decent CBS-sponsored job of programming a straight-out indie-rock format check this HD 2 side channel of their FM sports station (KLLI-FM) in Dallas-- http://www.indie-verse.com/ . Evidently CBS is prepared to take an HD gamble on a more adventurous indie format, only not in the DC market. One has to wonder about the current targeting of HFS 2, since most listeners who are hankering for the 'old HFS' really have something more 'indie' in mind than what is now being offered.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

CBS is more concerned with advertising dollars from Ibiquity than they are in keeping listeners happy...or keeping listeners at all....how CBS can continue to operate with the smart move/dumb move ratio FAR to to dumb side is beyond me....I suppose if I had billions of dollars to burn I could make a 99.1 percent failure rate work out too..pun intended as I consider CBS a total joke.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

Funny thing is that CBS seems to be attracting some advertisers to the indie-rock station HD 2 station in Dallas, but not (as far as I've noticed so far) to HFS 2. Plus, I believe they'd move some more HD radios off the shelves if a genuine alternative was available on HFS 2 - i.e. indie rock. I can't imagine many listeners are going to make the extra investment in HD 2 to tune in much of the same music already available on DC101, just because it's got the (at least partially discredited) 'HFS' label associated with it.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

Especially with the legal ID being WTGB HD2 !! They think they're using the HFS brand but they aren't. WHFS is an AM talk station now and CBS is wasting what could be a VERY successful station like WHFS FM with an HD subchannel devoted to either vintage HFS or the later more active incarnartion. I wish they'd put it back on 99.1 since El Zol isn't doing great either. A better idea yet would be to have 99.1 WHFS with the main channel doing 90s to current indie, HD2 with 80's hfs material and HD3 with the original WHFS groundbreakers that the old school listeners would love. The station HAS a longtime loyal following and I find it criminally stupid to overlook these listeners. As for signal degradation with 3 channels: WMMR Philadelphia has 3 channels and I find no problem with the main signal which I listen to most mornings.

Re: DC Annapolis Baltimore You're Still Not Getting HFS

CBS owns the HFS brand so they can use on whatever station they want. At first 2 years ago in Jan 08 when HFS2 was the only music played on WHFS 105.7 the station ID did make more sense as HFS, since WHFS was its parent station still. But even after 105.7 flipped to sports the the station was still called HFS2 WJZ-HD2 so this is nothing new.

Hopefully HFS2 will do well so it will be put on 99.1 again so Dc, Virgina, and BAltimore listenrs can all listen in thier cars. I have an HD radio I bought just to listen to HFS2 in BAltimore and now I can't :( I wish they would leave HFS2 on WJZ2 like before, I really don't see the problem with that at all.
