DC Urban 93.9 WKYS starting to lean Rhythmic?

This wave of Rhythmic tunes being heard one Urbans must be in selected cities. Down south, we still have a strong Hip-Hop/R&B sound on Urban stations. Isn't the DC Rhythmic station rated higher than both PGC and KYS? Anyway, Usher's song is the only rhythmic track i've heard here in ATL on both HOT and V. I'd assume they'd play it because he's an ATL artist.

WVEE did play Justin Bieber song "Baby" for a couple of weeks following his interview with Gregg Street. Reggie Rouse is very selective about what rhythmic tracks heard on VEE, but he will play more than a few of them at a time. At one point, Justin Bieber and Black Eyed Peas were both on the regular playlist rotation. Also remember when they spun "Apologize" by OneRepublic in late 2008, and it was their #1 song for a few weeks as well?

Mmmhmm, WPGC just played Carryout. What did I say. KYS didnt even get it up to moderate rotation yet.

Maybe Michael Saunders is reading this board and wanted to prove your 3-week rule wrong... :D

No seriously, I want to see WPGC play something rhythmic or urban thus forcing WKYS to play it following them.

LOL! Wouldnt that be funny. And I am waiting to see the same exact thing.

Micheal Saunders takes a beating on the message boards but he keeps getting big job after big job(DC,NY,LA,Detroit) Keep in mind that Neke Howse is the PD at WKYS she was the music director at WERQ. I believe until recently she was PD and music director at WKYS until Kathy Brown left the Radio One D.C. cluster. And now she(Neke Howse) has some OM duties there but that is a big advantage over Micheal Saunders Neke Howse being a former music director. PPM has had a big affect on the D.C. market as far as WPGC goes the market is different than Atlanta and Baltimore. Dispite all of this chatter WPGC still makes a lot money the number 2 biller in 2009 in D.C. radio and that is all that CBS cares about. I think that management in general has to take some chances with there PD hires there is alot of young PD talent outside of the top 10 markets. DJ Buck is a rising african-american PD for CBS in Hartford,Conn. his station is well respected for breaking new music on the radio. WPGC can not keep playing musical chairs with there PD spot its two important of a job hopefully Saunders stays awhile but if he does not that station needs a young rising PD in that chair. Also Stacy Cunningham from KMEL is out there looking for a PD job iam sure.

I think Stacy Cunningham would be perfect considering KMEL is a former churban like WPGC.
