Dead 102.3

Since everything in Citadel is in constant motion..... can anyone tell me when I'm going to be able to hear Uncle Murph, Casey, and the rest of the Big I 105 here in Cumberland County??? The only RED that I see saving is the blood spurting from my slit wrists.

SOMEONE just pull the 102.3 watt transmitter and simulcast with 105.1 already!!! I want Dick to tell me what's for dinner!

I use Red for my alarm clock in the morning. Flick has not yet given me a shout out at 8:01am, 8:16am, 8:31am or 8:46am. But I do enjoy the mornings where the first voice I hear is Libby.

If I ever need to sleep in, I'll send over some anonymous cash addressed to "chief engineer" so that there are "transmitter problems" in the 8am hour. Or pray for more lightning.
______________

Keep your hands off Lib, Buca. I got to her first. :)

Tell Monty that I used to be a dairy farmer.

FM102.3 - OMG!

How long before the "kiddies" start clamoring for 102.3 to be turned into a *gasp* dance "stay-shun"???
______________

Considering a dance station would target Harrisburg's alternative lifestyle folk and that the service contour barely reaches Harrisburg...I'd say never. But thanks for your wonderful insight.

Now...92.1 on the other hand...especially with that CP on the mountain now. It wouldn't be arby top 5, but it'd grab that niche and hold a loyal audience.
______________

Personally I'm clamoring for 102.3 to be turned into a hot dog stand. It'd make more money that way.
Edited by thinkingman on 02/06/06 08:08 PM.

That would be a big umbrella on the end of that stick. I wonder how many dogs that baby could cook an hour ? Buca, can you calculate ?

Ok...let's assume that we're cooking the hot dogs horizontally. 102.3 is 3kw horizontal. If the hot dog is 75 grams it takes 75 calories (scientific) to heat it 1 degree. Let's raise them 80 degrees. 75g * 80C * 4.2Joules/cal = 25,200 Joules. Let's assume 87% solid state transmitter efficiency with another 40% loss in radiated power and another 30% loss from poor insulation and the fact a hot dog isn't all water and finally a 7% loss from mice crap (if you've never been a transmitter site, trust me)....so we're at 10% efficiency. Putting the hot dog in line for horizontal radiation with 10% efficiency in absorption gives us 300 watts. 3600 joules per watt hour means there's no way it could sustain a hot dog stand.

I don't see it cooking many hot dogs. Stick to music.
______________

Even with all the mathematical and scientific analysis, the fact remains that more people would rather eat an undercooked hot dog than actually listen to RED 102.3
