Dead Air Alert

We need something to alert us when our station goes off the air. We’re monitoring three stations and need some type of device to call or email the operator when there is dead air. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Para CZ works well for email. There are lost's of options depending on budget and application. The easiest would be to put a silence sensor at the transmitter and attach it to your remote control there. If you are LMAing or for some other reason what it external from the transmitter you can get a silence sensor that will call from broadcast tools. There are cheaper options out there but not as reliable

How did you get this program to send e-mail and text message alerts? I have never been able to get it to work. I set up my gmail mail server settings and also entered my cell ohone number for text messages but it never works. At one point it would give me an error message after trying to send me an e-mail, but now it won't even do that.

Nevermind, I discovered the solution.

Broadcast Tools VAD-2 Plus are about $285 each. My question to Broadcast Tools was can one unit - monitor three stations.

Here is what they said:

If your purpose is to monitor two stations and all you want to monitor for
each station is a single contact closure (like an alarm indicator) then the
VAD-2 Plus can be configured to dial a different combination of phone
numbers for status input 1 (station 1 alarm) then for status input 2
(station 2 alarm.) A total for four phone numbers can be programmed.

I will also mention that we've included a diagram at the end of the VAD-2
Plus manual that shows how the VAD-2 Plus can be used in conjunction with
three Silence Sentinel Basic silence sensors to monitor four stations for
silence: http://broadcasttools.com/manuals/Manual_VAD-2Plus.pdf

What do you guys think? Would there be any benefit of purchasing three units - or would one do the trick?
