Dead Air at WROR?

those allocations where a LPFM's are perfect for what they are, a way for a local group, school, non profit, etc to do local radio because they are so limited as to a combination height above average terrain (HAAT) , Effective Radiated Power, and the 5.6 KM max distance ( just under 3.5 miles tops) . I will not comment as to what actually gets put on those LPFM's in most cases.

Now the Translators are another story.

After the expanded AM band was tried as a way to save some of the dying AM's, and it proved to be a dismal failure, someone decided the whole first adjacent channel thing was flawed ( long story) and all those empty spaces could be filled with Translators re-broadcasting AM stations programming in order to save AM radio

The caveat was a LPFM could not interfere with anyone and has no protection, and a translator could not interfere with a licensed FM

There have been quite a few pissing matches between FM's and translators, with the FM's claiming the translators are interfering with them in the distant or fringe areas of their licensed predicted pattern.

If those complaints were legit, or the existing FM objected to a Translator in their area taking audience away from them is up for discussion.
