Dead air on SoJo 104.9

nd2023

Last night around 11:30, I heard SoJo 104.9 play dead air. What happened? Did the board op fall asleep early? Was there a power outage somewhere or did they lose the STL? Anything else?<P ID="signature">______________

All morning the audio sounded like a poor 33.6K connection.

With the intensity of the storms that hit Ocean & Atlantic Counties last night I'm suprised more stations didn't go off the air.

Damn Tom, looks like that lightning struck 10 feet away from the TX site..Was that last nite??

P.S. How does one play dead-air? Does someone pull up a cut in the automation that is at a 0dB level? =)

LOL. That's what someone said WDRC-FM in Hartford sounded like after they came back on the air 2 1/2 hours after they got zapped.

They cue up John Cage's 4'33" on repeat play. I hear it's the number one hit song in libraries and mime colleges everywhere.

Re: Dead air on SoJo 104.9 - New Jersey

We like "The 10 Coolest Things About New Jersey" by The Bloodhound Gang from the album "Hooray For Boobies" (it's 10 seconds of silence)

Does that mean that every time a station loses the STL link they have to pay royalties? :)

It was me. I did it.

I called around 10pm and requested the dead air. So, they finally played it? That's just great! Who says requests are a thing of the past.
