Dead Air...ummmmmm.... Dead Air....

Not even ONE post in November yet? I'll start...

Thoughts on Dan Patrick? I really enjoy the show. Find myself listening all three hours and was not really that big of a fan when he was on ESPN radio.

Mike Tirico... please. Scott Van Pelt is the star of that show. I wish ESPN Radio didn't care about the "name" and focused more on the actual on air personality.

Anything else going on?

You can listen to all three hours of Dan Patrick?
The ratings people need to find you because I bet you are the only one, considering that if you listen you know that Dan nods off himself during a few segments each day.
Dan needs a strong producer to take charge of this operation. If you listen closely you can hear him paging through the morning paper during his first thoughts of the day. It is as if he is riffing and just aimlessly telling you what he watched, what he did.
His lack of preparation showed in his daily ESPN radio product and that is what caused him to be a distant third as a ratings producer behind Mike and Mike and Colin Cowherd.
At some point, telling us who you were talking to or who you played golf with once gets real old.
Dan needs major affiliates to take an interest and they won't be doing it with the current product he is putting on the air.
If you listen for the newspaper shuffling you will hear it.
Come on Dan! This is a job, start working.

I actually think the shuffling of papers has kind of become a bit of a crutch for most sports talk show hosts... I mean I can't actually believe that a guy making THAT kind of money and clearing as many stations as he clears would be having to flip through the sports page to find something to talk about. He HAS to prepare a bit RIGHT??? I guess we hope!

On a Division I local play by play broadcast... you can ALWAYS hear the producer telling the play by play guy the distance, yard, player everything and its funny because 90% of the time the pbp guy still will screw it up.

I used to work with a guy who would just repeat things he heard in his cans without thinking. It was fun to try and trip him up. Worked on radio OR TV. He was frequently on the sauce, and that's when he did his best stuff!

I only listened to Dan Patrick when he and KO were on for a hour, I really detest ESPN now more than I did back then. ESPN radio is not good as it used to be so I'll stick with FSR.
