Dead Air

Did anyone else hear the dead air on Movin at around 11:45ish...man it was piss poor board work. First I heard 10 seconds of dead air after their promo, then after a spot, another 30 seconds of dead air, and then they repeated a spot in the same break, finally they just hit a song and no rejoiner! Is this LA or Bakersfield?

Even in LA we have technical problems.

Technical problems? Sounds kinda like someone left a fader down and the dead air happened as that pot was cycled through by the automation.

Or the digital storage glitched and reset... a hard disk in the RAID died... or a power line surge that faked out the UPS... or a sealed bearing motor turned out to net be sealed... or someone trippled and fell on some wiring in a rack. We all have these things happen. It's a sign of being human, not of being incompetent.

B-BOOEY is right, faders down are not technical problems, thats human error. Anything more than 5 seconds of dead air should not be acceptable. But then again, what should we expect from a former lounge singer with no radio experience.

I kind of like dead air, sometimes, just for the contrast. Let 'em turn it up to see if you have any hum.
Count to 20, then say BOO!
The sad part is there's no board op with a mike anywhere (full time) to ride gain along the line to
be ready to jump in with a reassuring word.
Another one of the old niceties you'll just have to remember.

This is a topic whyyyyyyyyyy????????

I've heard worse.......

Very good David. I'm sure everyone's first reaction would be a "sealed bearing motor that turned out not to be sealed". Isnt that that cause of 90% of dead air?
