Dead amplifier circuit

I guess it's not destructive (if destructive means get a slight burn feeling when touching).
It's a cosy warm heatsink ;D
Two of these http://www.visaton.com/en/chassis_zubehoer/breitband/fr10_8.html in a homemade speakers cabinets (made with rigid extruded polystyrene, cutted and assmbled) Insane?... I don't mind. 30€ made it all...

What kind of wire are you using to go to the speakers?

I bring this up because of something that happened back in college when a BE console kept blowing speaker amp transistors. The original speaker wire was Belden 8451. We guessed the capacitance of the cable was causing problems and replaced the cable with some 18-gauge lamp cord. Problem solved.

I'm using belden standard instalation audio cable (+,- and shield) leftovers from the station I work. Only + and - are used on both speakers.

Try using an unshielded cable and see if the transistor runs cooler.

The shield is not connected. It isn't even a "wrapping" shield, its just a section of thin wires across the cable. Does that have influence?...

Even a disconnected shield could still have an effect.
